I like how you melted those two parts together. Let me guess, you did first mount them on the chassis rails, right?

Joel. You are right.
I put the alu parts first on the rails and then I puyt them on the carbon plate and painted the line with the silver pen.
I have an new method now how I cut the carbon.
I can put an pic on it tomorrow. It is much less dusty style :P

I thought about something similar but a few things troubled me, like chain tension. No big deal if the chain can droop or be lifted but the housings require a fairly straight chain. Are you using a remnant chassis for the rear suspension arm mounts? I was thinking of having a "wing" type battery holder like on a Radiant, how are you attacking that?

Can't wait to see how it turns out!

I just have to make a fibre glass version of the Optima/Turbo Optima one day. Thanks for putting another project on the waiting list :)

When I was racing an Optima I did a similar chassis, two side plates in fibreglass and made a bottom aluminium plate to stiffen it all up, just like the Turbo Optima lower guard. Used a short top deck at the rear for the receiver and ESC.

One of the reasons I did it was to get rid of the chain tension adjustment. The standard chain tension adjustment is great as long as you never hit anything. Run into something with the front end and the front end would move back slackening the chain. If you were really lucky both sides moved back the same amount, but more often than not one side ended up shorter than the other leading to odd handling and the chain rubbing on the side of the chain guard. The chain, and the belt drive conversion, will run quite happily with lots of play, after all it is just connecting the front and rear diffs together, not being the primary drive.

The car is now super stiff, thats the way I want the car should be in the end.
I trye to fitted the saddle lipos pack but that is an big NO GO
I think the best way to fitted an lipo pack in is the lipo pack that looks lika an oldschool 6cell pack and make holes in the chassis so the pack will go through lika in the original optima.

Just found an Optima Pro on Ebay with the kind of side plates you are crafting. Not in carbon fiber though 8)
