New Built Losi XX Graphite (Now includes body paint!)
Just wanted to share a few shots of my nearly completed XX Graphite build. I got the inspiration for this from a few builds that I've come across on the forum. I will be using an original XX body but haven't decided on a colour scheme yet although I'm thinking that it needs something based on/ around white.
Spec:
Full Graphite Components
Losi BK Front Shock Tower
Centred Motor Plate
Trinity P-94 Motor
Lunsford Ti Turnbuckles & Hinge-pins
Trinity Trans Brace
Trinity 2 deg. Suspension Block
Trinity Wide Front Axles
Kyosho Silver-Grey Foam Things
HG Aluminium Diff Gear
Ceramic Diff Balls
AE (Ouch....! ) Spur Gear & Slipper Pads
Ti-Nitride Shock Pistons
Pro-Line XXCR Wheels (Front & Rear)
Pro-Line Bow-Tie M3 Rears
Losi BK Pre-Scrubbed Silver Fronts
Losi Aluminium Dog Bones
Apologies for the lack of progress photo's but I've had a house move recently and taking RC photo's was sadly not a priority!
I'm not sure which way to go with the electrics yet but I do have a Novak XXL 2ch receiver and a SNIB Novak Cyclone C2 that I may use so the only item left is a servo. I also thinking of leaving the wing clear but not sure yet.
Anyway.......as always......enjoy!

Re: New Built Losi XX Graphite
Stunning! You've kept this build quiet LosiXXkid, the XX is my favourite buggy of all time & its always a joy to see one, especially one as nice as yours with all those lovely option parts!
I trust you are going with an Xcellerator shell to finish it off?
I see that you've used the lighter coloured 'grey' shock bodies... I was never sure if the XX ever came with these, only the black shocks?

Thanks for the praise. It's tough trying to live up to the high standards that this forum sets!DerbyDan wrote:Stunning! You've kept this build quiet LosiXXkid, the XX is my favourite buggy of all time & its always a joy to see one, especially one as nice as yours with all those lovely option parts!

Yeah, I guess I did keep it quiet but that was never my intention - it kind of just happened that way, and what with a house move, and never having the camera around at the right time, photo's never got taken.
I'm not keen on the X-Celerator body but I do have two of the original, A-8008, XX body shells so I will be using one of them.
As far as the shocks go, in person they are sort of a greeny/ grey - certainly more modern looking, IMO, than the silver or original XX burgundy coloured shocks and, I feel, suit this build quite well.
Cutting, masking and painting body shells was never my favourite part of the build so I need to "motivate" myself to get it finished off!

Re: New Built Losi XX Graphite
My apologies - only just seen this thread. Fantastic build, that graphite looks so lovely! Great choice of parts and really love the black wheels! Looks really stealthy and not over the top at all - makes me want to build another one now! hehehe
Great work dood!
Edit: Are they Losi XXX wheels dyed black? That gives me an idea....

Says they're Proline XX rims - bit I understand the yellow Losi wheels respond ok to being dyed?jamin wrote:My apologies - only just seen this thread. Fantastic build, that graphite looks so lovely! The wheels are Pro-Line featherlite (I think that's right?) XXCR rims. And I dyed them black using RIT and my microwave dyeing method which you can read in another thread.

Something using black, white and maybe some silver - haven't quite decided yet.Coelacanth wrote:Very nice, clean build! What are your plans for the body/paint?

Re: New Built Losi XX Graphite
If you dye Losi neon/ yellow rims black they actually look very close in colour to the original kit motor plate and shock body's - sort of a dark burgundy/ claret colour. I'll dig out a pair of neon rims that I dyed black and see how well they photograph to try and capture the colour.DerbyDan wrote:Says they're Proline XX rims - bit I understand the yellow Losi wheels respond ok to being dyed?jamin wrote:My apologies - only just seen this thread. Re: New Built Losi XX Graphite
A very mild grey. I used my normal dye which has always worked, maybe its the type of plastic they use for the wheels?LosiXXkid wrote:Did they come out grey or did they not take any colour at all???jamin wrote:I tried dying some xxx white rims black today, but they didn't take Gutted!

Re: New Built Losi XX Graphite
I had bad experiences with dyes other than RIT brand. If you have it available I would give it a shot. It has never let me down
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas
