Scr8p's Classic - Stock Build

Post by scr8p »

I know... if you've seen one you've seen them all.

I didn't stray too much from the manual. I did put a stack of spacers in the rear shocks, and I should have gone a little more. Installed bearings. I also drilled the lower set of shock mounting holes in the front tower like the original. One of these days I'll get the body trimmed and mounted. Not exactly sure about colors or a design layout. But, I've always wanted to do a 1/10 version of the paint scheme I ran on my 1/24 production class slot cars back in 90-91. So I may go that route. Or boxart. :P :P

Is it going to be a runner? If so....where are you going with electronics?

I don't think so tim.

This is the slot car paint job I was talking about. My group 12 cars were the reverse of this. So I'd go with either one if this is what I decide to do.

This one is for the shelf. But I will outfit it with electronics one day. Just not sure about stuff will go in it.

I'm having the same struggle with electronics. I'm thinking something brushless and I've ordered some twister motor stickers from ultrahive to give it a retro look. Not sure tho

i don't want to waste a brushless setup in it. i really don't want to put vintage stuff in it either. i'm thinking of grabbing one of these lrp speedos:

not sure about the rest of it yet.

I just bought an LRP 3.1 direct from Associated for $30 to pair with a cheap Reedy Radon 17t motor. $50 for a 'classic'-looking LRP/Reedy combo for a more-shelf-than-dirt RC10 ain't bad!

my other classic will be going blue. just the nose, tub, and motor plate. shocks are staying gold. it'll be a new version of that old blue tub car i have.

i do have to get some purple stuff done though. but like with my rory cull rep, i'd be more ahead of the game to come up with a super nice tub team car roller than going piece by piece for that replica. i do have a tub and nose i could have done purple, but i'll hold off awhile.

Hey now

I've done other colors. They just don't pop like purple.
