Re: Triumph Discussion
Don't know for sure but from what I've read around the forums, the kyosho transmissions seem easily interchangeable. My plan is to run a triumph tranny in my kyosho outlaw ultima. I prefer belt drives and tough racing make replacement belts

Re: Triumph Discussion
I think there is a discussion here someplace about putting a Triumph tranny in an Ultima, but not the other way around. I think they are interchangeable with minor modifications if any. I remember Tower used to sell the Triumph tranny separately for Ultima installation.

Re: Triumph Discussion
Just curious, I won a rather incomplete Triumph that has the main chassis and part of the suspension but no gearbox...and I have Ultima gearboxes.

Re: Triumph Discussion
You can still find all the needed parts to piece together a triumph tranny. Take a look at the Optima Heaven ebay store for the main components. The clutch discs might be difficult to find, but I've heard of others using Traxxas clutch pegs or you can use the Durango clutch setup mentioned in this thread.
They also pop up on ebay sometimes. Looks like there's one out there now.

Re: Triumph Discussion
I also have a triumph that my best friend gave me, he bought it on clearance for 90 dollars u.s. in 91. I tore it down, mounted a flysky 2.4g, cheap 320 amp esc, 2s lipo, has original leman super stock 34 motor and ks 91 servo. I put new rear tires and an rc10 body on it with a home made wing and I also made a 3mm g10 front damper mount for it. Needless to say it goes real good, does anyone know how many turns the leman 34 motor is? Id post pics but dont do photobucket. Its a good car but my trf201 with an 8.5t blows it away, but I love it anyway.

Re: Triumph Discussion
To answer my own question: the Ultima gearbox will fit the Triumph chassis, but I need to come up with a solution for the rear bulkhead (which is missing, just like about everything else except the most basic suspension parts and front bulkhead bits... )EvolutionRevolution wrote:Just curious, I won a rather incomplete Triumph that has the main chassis and part of the suspension but no gearbox...and I have Ultima gearboxes.

Re: Triumph Discussion
Should probably dig out my own triumph first and check if it is a good idea or not... but my first thought would be to try an ultima bulkhead instead: that way it will be easy to link with the gearbox and stiffen the rear up some.

Re: Triumph Discussion
I don't think the Ultima bulkhead fits (different screw hole pattern), but I'll try some things later on - right now the thing goes straight into the "projects" box (I have too many projects...).

Re: Triumph Discussion
Nope. They revised it a bit along the way I believe. But it never went into another car. Oddly they never made a stadium truck version of the triumph.
