Kyosho 1/18 McLaren MP4/3 Turbo F1 Racer build
Finally got around to starting this one! It's pretty much just by the book except bearings (missing one! DOH!!)
No English!
Transmission:
Two speeds swappable by moving a plastic clip
Just a little size comparison!

That is super cool. I've always liked these little F-1's. Love that it has independant rear suspension.

I have way too many baja bugs and not a single Kyosho 18th F1... and the Tamiya's just aren't the same!
Many thanks for the build thread!

I have one nib Optima (missing decals) and a runner Ultima, a now-built McLaren and a nib Williams Honda F1, a gen 1 runner Rothmans Honda and a nib HOR Honda. I'm still missing a baja bugs style sedan. I think I will make a travel case for all the mini's following the theme of my portable Ultima setup.

The worst part is finding a battery, unless you want to run it- I'm sure there are plenty of lipos that would fitalien3t wrote:Saw these popping up on ebay, price didnt seam to bad for what they are and how old. Now these pics make me want one or 3 even more now.
Keep in mind these are pretty slow! A brushless motor and late model electronics would be pretty cool tho

The bike guys like the EZRun 1/18 5200kv setup. Looks cheap, and the bike is the same motor as the cars so it should be a good fit. Don't know how well it would hold up, but it's cheap!

Re: Kyosho 1/18 McLaren MP4/3 Turbo F1 Racer build
I've got these in my 18r and they have been pretty good especially for the price. It has more than enough power for these mini cars. The 12t might be a little much for a rwd car, especially one that might be hard to find parts for.gomachv wrote:The bike guys like the EZRun 1/18 5200kv setup.
