New to me graphite

A friend of mine gave me a box of RC stuff for my 5yo son to play with. Mostly a bunch of cheap junk that'll only be good for him to smash in the sandbox. At the bottom of the box was this...







What is the best way for me to get this thing going on the cheap? No controller was included, so I'll need that and batteries at the very least. What are the 2 wires (red+green) coming off the speed controller?

It's only going to be used for thrashing around the house, is anything obsolete or can I just get some batteries and a controller and run what I have?

Nice find. Assuming the electronics work, you should be able to clean it up and run it with a new radio and battery. As alluded to above, make sure the +/- wires are put back on accordingly.

I think they just got a little carried away when the were soldering on the resistors. Which is weird because the lead sharing the tab with the green wire is not soldered at all and just wrapped through the hole in the tab. I believe the power wires are soldered to the proper tabs, correct? How do you guys like that super secure terminal connection?

Oh ok, you're good. The other pic made it look like the wires were on the same side.

Part of the fun is going through the wiring and sorting it out.
