Scr8p's "Team Car" Rere
Ok, I believe I'm done buying Worlds rere's now.
I've had this build in mind ever since the rere's started. In my opinion, AE kinda dropped the ball never offering white wide track front arms. Between the Classic and worlds parts, it would've been easy to build rere 6 gear CE's, Stealth CE's, and Team cars. Well, the planets sort of aligned for me the other day with a nice ebay lot to get this started.
I won an auction for a new Worlds kit. But it also came with a full gold chassis set, as well as classic tires, sticker sheet and a protech body. Though all i will be using is the chassis parts.
So basically what will happen is the gold parts will be redone in black. That will give me a full nose plate that was never offered in black. I'll also be picking up a stock style bellcrank, white wheels, white shock hardware, white rear arms, fiberglass towers, and a Viper body. I think I have a nice white trans brace for it and I have a pair of white front arms. But I'm gonna try to paint the kit front arms first. If I can get them to match decent they get used on the build so I don't waste new originals on a rere.

I've always wondered if the classic wheels and tires would be a direct swap onto the World's car. I'm just not sure if the axle sizes are the same. I'm interested to see your build as it progresses. Subscribed and bookmarked!

No, the classic rears are 1/4" and the worlds are 3/16".
Both can easily be swapped over using dogbones or cva's and proper bearings tho

It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Yeah. They never made a black rere nose plate that wasn't cut off like the worlds. So I would have to get that done no matter what. I'll send it all out and hopefully it all matches.shodog wrote:So you're going to reannodize the gold to black?

Absolutely!
I'm interested to see how the paint works out on those front arms. I've been looking for an original set of NIP white arms forever, but every time they pop up, they just want too darn much for them.- scr8p

Re: Scr8p's "Team Car" Rere
I have new 2 pairs of original front arms. 1 I've been sitting on for awhile, the other I just got last week for a great price. So if the paint doesn't work out, I have a pair to spare for the build. I just don't really want to use them on it. The only other original part I'll be using on it is a white stealth trans brace. Oh, and probably a white battery hold down.
I was trying to figure out what wheels I wanted to use on it. The original Team Car came with AE tires, so I thought it would be cool to do the same with this. But it looks like the only buggy tires I could get from AE would've been the ones from the B4.2rs rtr. They come pre-mounted though, and are also sold out. So I decided to just go with JConcepts Double Dee rears and Groovy fronts. I was trying to NOT use the same tires as the rere Worlds box art and did it anyway.
Got the white wheels, stock bellcrank, white shock parts, white rear arms and Viper body ordered as well.

Re: Scr8p's "Team Car" Rere
I see that the gold pan nose plate has a few more holes in it, and I'm guessing that the classic steering assembly works with the gold nose plate? So that's what you would need to replicate a Team Car?
I'm asking because I see that ae offers a black classic chassis, but no classic nose plate in black. Only the short World's version. Also, the .71 front Team shocks are basically non-existent. I haven't managed to find a set anywhere. Yet. I'd love to find a set of those.

Thanks jwscab. I will definitely keep on looking. I'm getting a lot of eye training on this site almost everyday, lol.jwscab wrote:gotta keep looking they are out there. ebay will have shock sets you have to get to know the sizes by eye.
