Vintage RC10 front axle questions

So I like to replace my front wheels to something similar to my rear ones.

From what I have searched for has been pointing me towards 12mm hex wheels?

What is the 2.2 wheel? Is that the diameter of the wheel?

I seen an RC10 conversion kit, but it looks like it has an aluminum axles. I prefer a steel one.

Can someone post a list of some decent parts for this conversion. Knukles, axles, bearings would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Here's the hex conversion you can use to addapt the hex front 2.2 wheels.
I think the 7496 axles were now discontinued and hard to find online but try your local hobby shops if they still carry them, if not then try the 9881 but these will make the fronts wider. I still manage to find few 7496 from nearby hobby shops though.

i found a 9613 axle on ebay. is this compatable?
