So it's the Optima re-re with a different body, wheel and tires, gold anno chassis parts and a super-deluxe set of shocks. Anyone care to speculate if there is more to it?
Basically it’s the “Turboed” version of the Re-re, as the original was the “Turboed” version of the original Optima. Upgraded Shocks, wheels/tyres, chassis parts.
It’s a good looking thing without doubt

You're probably right and they were (are) pricey. Speaking of price, the re-re Optima is $300 while the Javelin is $320. Where do you think this one will land?
not really sure. Maybe in the same ball park?
I might still go with a re re javelin but have a hard time justifying the money when I have 4 originals now...and needing 1:1 car repairs and house updates and just finishing any other projects I've got sitting around, etc.,etc,.etc

I hear ya. I really wasn't interested in buying another one of these but I guess we'll have to see how it goes. If it's true that Kyosho will look at sales of this model before moving ahead with others then I feel compelled to cast a vote. They've basically milked the original Optima platform dry; other models (Mid and Ultima) will require some major design and tooling investments so this could very well be the last one.
Back in the day, Kyosho made versions of that front chin skidplate and shock towers that were thicker and stronger than the originals. I wonder if they considered this with the re-re parts? The original kit parts were major weak points.

Just curious, is there anyone here giving serious thought to buying this re-release?
The gold is what I’m drawn too, will depend on Aus price at the end of the day, but I’d like to see more releases from Kyosho, and I believe we’ll only see them if this sells well

If I don’t get a scorpion first I plan to get one of these Turbo Optimas. I have a regular Optima rerelease and I am very impressed with the quality of manufacturing and durability of the design.
I think its nice...but had a rere optima back when it came out, been sold. Now, i prefer buying old original wrecks and restoring them, just more fun for me...
But it if cool for sure
I'm still on the fence with this one. I agree that if this model doesn't move, Kyosho may not release any more -- and that could mean no re-re Ultima or Mid.
I have a vintage TO (no gold parts however) plus re-re Scorpion and Javelin and my RC budget at the moment is shot to heck so I guess I'll just keep thinking about it.
Anyway, if you guys get one of these, please do post a full build or just post your experiences, thoughts, etc.
