I've been searching the forums and someone mentioned that the XL wheelbase is ~1/2" (13mm) longer than the base model. But the body I have from Penguin has two cut lines and they're probably only about 6mm apart. Does anyone know for certain how much longer the wheelbase is for the XL cars?
If someone has an sample of both chassis and could take a measurement from each that would be awesome.
thanks.

Re: Ultima Pro XL wheelbase?
Hey Buddy,
Just measured a Ultima MK1 vs an XL, and I can confirm the XL is 13 mm longer.
260mm MK1 vs 273mm XL.
Cheers!

Re: Ultima Pro XL wheelbase?
Thanks so much for providing those measurements.
By the way, does anyone know what these two holes are for? I've had a look at a variety of Ultima buggy manuals and all chassis plates have them but they don't appear to serve any purpose. I can't see anything mounted using these two holes.
Maybe they're meant to function like scuppers to prevent dirt accumulating between the suspension arm and the trans??

They line up with the set screws in the outdrives

Re: Ultima Pro XL wheelbase?
Yes, I guess they do align.
...and the right outdrive set screw would be very hard to access without the hole.
The manuals for the Ultima and Turbo Ultima don't show the holes but manuals for subsequent models do - even those that use a ball diff which don't require set screws.
I have a few old chassis plates and all of them have holes.
thanks Jeff!
