Re: DSPPC EXP3 MID kit Cougar
Really great craftmanship on all those designed parts. Nice job!
RC10, FX10, JRX2 PRO, Blackfoot, Bolink Eliminator...much more, probably too much.

Re: DSPPC EXP3 MID kit Cougar
Today the last parts arrived for the front end.
Just put it all together, and “technically” the slider is finished.
Here some detailed photo’s again!
Enjoy!!

Re: DSPPC EXP3 MID kit Cougar
In between just a few pictures to have a better look at the car for now.
I need to start working on the electronics, and needs some “planning” to fit it all..
Hope you like some of these snapshots...

Re: DSPPC EXP3 MID kit Cougar
Done with the wiring...
Placed all the electronics, and did some soldering.
Made a quick cover to stack away the servo cables, this will be replaced with some carbon.
I know some wires could be shorter, but i like how they are all guided now.
I did a quick test, and everything works!
Have a look, and enjoy!

Re: DSPPC EXP3 MID kit Cougar
The wheels.....
Right, the wheels are mounted!
Did some other slight mods, especially the steering was off. Found the problem, ánd the solution.. haha.
If you notice, the front shock tower is currently changed. The one we designed was 7mm too low. So for now we fitted a Fibre-lyte C2W one, which ultimately is a tiny bit too high on this model imo, and too narrow on the top for the track conditions we have.
We will create a new one later on...
Next up... finishing the body...

That is beautiful. I wish I had the talent, attention span and inspiration to try a project like this.

Re: DSPPC EXP3 MID kit Cougar
Details..
I had to adjust the steering hub because there was a slight difference in the used axle hub (double bearing 10mm castle axle) compared to the original Cougar hub.
The little knob was slightly bigger, resulting the EPA was off.
Filed away the knob, and added an M3 bolt in the alloy C-Hub with a 0,5mm washer underneath.
At this point i can adjust the EPA easily, plus no wobbly wheel no more at inner wheel.
(Not included in the kit.. )

Re: DSPPC EXP3 MID kit Cougar
Wondering how the bottom looks like?
(IMO not the greatest looking photo’s.. haha)
Here you see the mounting of the front suspension plate, with the EXP logo printed in it..
Also the rear bumper is more visible here.
(We are thinking about a small change on the rear bumper, to have more ground clearance on the back but not sure yet...)

Re: DSPPC EXP3 MID kit Cougar
For those that are interested in rendered pictures of the CAD files, here are some. Only the chassis has been modeled, as the original suspension components would be maintained. Some of the original parts have been measured and recreated in CAD, so the interference with other parts could be checked and accounted for.
CAD software that is used, is Inventor. Enjoy!

Re: DSPPC EXP3 MID kit Cougar
Some details again... (i love it, and hate it..)
Replaced the black plastic cover (template) with 1mm carbon fibre.
After, covered the wires with some black nylon wrap to protect them.
Was this essential? Not for technical reasons i guess, it just helps my OCD being friendly to me!
