white idler gear
hi guys i did a search but couldnt find much info...
is there any significance to a white idler gear? any info appreciated! thanks.

Yeah, originally they (the idler gears) were white.
Black was transitioned to as replacements during the Team Car years when thats what color the rest of the parts were.
Associated still has them too.

the white idlers (nylon) were used up until the rc10 graphite came out (89). that's when they switch to the black ones (delrin). they held up much better.

It's more of a tan than a white, but it definately is not black

ya, i forgot about those. i have no idea when the started making them in that color. what color were the idlers in the b3/t3 kits? i believe they used the same idler.

the idlers for the b3/t3 had the bearings inside the idler and the shaft was fixed into a hole in the trans case. i never liked that style thats the same way losi xx and newer trannnys are as well.

It's probably cheaper to make a single piece of plastic rather than a 2 part gear with a steel shaft pressed into it.
