Traxxas TRX1 Modern Racer build
This will be a TRX1 built with modern electronics and setup for modern tracks. I am still trying to learn all of the intricacies of the TRX1 cars, but I know I lucked out with the donor car I bought for this build.
The donor was built quite well, and had some really nice upgrades already. I could have left it alone, but that isn't my style. It will be rebuilt with attention to all the details and a stealth look.
The chassis is nearly immaculate. I plan to add a Composite Craft clone top deck to increase rigidity and add some badassness.
I swapped the rear axles for some I had NIB, although the shape is slightly different.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 Modern Racer build
I don't know these cars well, so this may be a dumb question. Is that the AE stealth transmission? Or was the Traxxas that similar?
My first thought when I saw that was did Traxxas sue AE for pre-emptively copying their design

Always happy to see one of your builds, keep ‘em coming
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
Hey Cru ! Go balls out

Hey. No, it's not a Stealth transmission. However it sure looks similar from the outside. I believe this is a TRX3 transmission, but the resident experts can correct me.
I am using a dyed black A&L steering setup. I think I have decided on 4.3 ballstuds for this car. These gold Destiny brand units are nice.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 Modern Racer build
Really nice so far!
I can’t wait to see her finished.
Since the title says modern racer, is it going to be a runner?
If yes, you might want to consider using Bandit parts or notorious parts known to break.
Highly modified front bulkhead comes to mind, and the front A-arms.
But you’ve proven often enough that you know what you’re doing.

I'm no expert, but I believe the suspension parts are TRX-3, too.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 Modern Racer build
^ Chewbacca - Thank you for your suggestions. Like my other modern racer builds, I will build it up to be as capable and track ready as I can. This includes making sure connections are bind free, slop free, lightened where possible, and strong enough to run. Whether I will ever get it to the track to run is another thing, lol.
Things are coming together quickly now. This car is very straight forward with minimal parts, so that helps speed up the build.
These aluminum rear pin blocks are very nice pieces. I don't know who makes them, so please let me know if you do.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 Modern Racer build
With help from TRX1-3, I believe the aluminum rear pivot blocks are made by Fast Lane.
The wing mounts are Revolution. The outdrives are Traxxas. I don't know who did the front carbon brace.
I built up some nice FT shocks. I thought the Kashima bodies would fit well with the color of the motor plate.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 Modern Racer build
Looks like a fun build! As a kid, I was always a fan of the TRX1 and that sleek futuristic body and broad stance.
The TRX1 placing 4th place at the 1991 IFMAR Worlds was a big thing for Traxxas back in the day.
It was satisfying to see other manufacturers (besides Associated and Losi) trying to make the podium.

Working on the wiring. Trying to keep things clean as usual. Also cleaned up the esc as best I could.

Re: Traxxas TRX1 Modern Racer build
Which wheels are you thinking about? I see these JC Racing wheels for Traxxas that explicitly say in the listing "do not fit the TRX-1", which perplexes me. What do they fit, then?
Hope you're doin' something fun.
