Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
I'm showing 3.5mm for the chassis plate thickness.
You might be a little long on the front of the plate / or back a little on the arm mount/tower assembly? Notice the plate front lip in relation to the arm mount(s) And nice dogbones!

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
Thanks, yes I can shorten the front. I think length is good overall in reference to the holes.
The dog bones are TCP. I was using that for the fitting.
Different car.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
I think this is good to go. Added some extra holes for the shorty from Vintage RC.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
I have a stock TRX1 in my collection. I'll try and get a set of dimensions for you to double check against tonight. Sorry for the delay I keep trying to remember to reply to this thread but things get away from me.
the stock chassis is the long wheelbase, I beleive the shorter chasiss that was an option was 8-10mm shorter, but I'd have to dig around to find out exactly. I beleive if you have the trx3 dimensions, that is the shorter length.

Re: TRX-1 Chassis CAD or Drawing
sorry for the delay, the crappy sketch and the imperial dimensions. I don't have a metric caliper or scale immediately at my disposal. these are not all of the dimensions, but should be plenty to confirm everything you need. If you have any particular questions, just ask.
I'll say that the kick is tough to measure as it's not very sharp, but i should easily be within 0.25mm accuracy for everything.

Re: TRX-1 & SRT Build (CAD)
So I think I may go another direction with this because of cost.
If anyone wants the TRX1 Chassis CAD let me know and I can email it. Thanks all for your help to get the dimensions.
The new plan as of tonight is to make a flat plate with a TRX1 shape and use a TCP front bulkhead.
Also a new/cut front shock tower like the TRX1 that can mount to TCP front bulkhead (top mounting holes are the same) and tie it all together with a CC Upper Chassis.
I will need to figure out a way to attach the CC Upper to the rear bulkhead since the lower chassis will not be 3.5mm thick anymore.
I will still use the TRX1 length front arms, the bulkhead hinge pins are in the same position between the TRX1 and TCP.
So a nice highbred without needing an expensive chassis.
I will modify my TRX1 chassis CAD with the TOP front mounting holes and post when it is done.

Re: TRX-1 & SRT Build (CAD)
This sounds more like the modified chassis "TRX-1" that eventually became the TRX-3. Traxxas ran at least one of them at the Reedy Race back in '92. Please keep us posted with some pics here and there as you put it together. Sounds like a cool project!
One thing that has always stuck in my craw, at least when using "vintage" electronics/battery (layout), is the TRX-1 chassis doesn't leave enough space to mount the electronics on the chassis. The TRX-3/TCP was just wide enough. But if you are going shorty lipo...heck if you could swing it, maybe see if there is enough space to have the option to rotate the Vintage RC battery holder 90° so you could run the battery transverse mounted or longitudinal. But everybody likes to limit the amount of "option holes" in a chassis. That, and it would probably mess with your topdeck layout...

Progress so far. Still thinking what to do with Shorty Pack.
Lavigna TRX1 Build has a nice spot for the ESC.

Re: TRX-1 Build (CAD)
I have a friend that uses them for their g10 and likes them. I haven't tried them yet myself.
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Re: TRX-1 Build (CAD)
Nice work - I have toyed with the idea myself (a TRX-1 / TRX-3 hybrid). There is a lot of carryover of design principles/dimensions between the two cars which makes parts sharing easier. The downside is that Traxxas also made several unique parts between vehicles (ex.: rear bulkhead), so some parts may require slight modifications to work.
For anyone wanting to duplicate a similar effort, files for the other components shown mounted to the chassis are available via Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/rcnand/designs.
A pretty close representation of the TRX-1 (original long wheelbase) chassis and TRX-3/TCP chassis set are posted as well.

Re: TRX-1 Build (CAD)
I printed the chassis in two parts. I think I only have to change a few minor things and I am ready to send this out to be made.
I found a supplier that has 25 deg front kick-up.
