I got the motor fitted and the T1-x rewired. The Rx lead is not correct, I know, but I have loads of these brown/orange/yellow leads from my days flying RC planes. When racing this car originally, I would have used whatever worked, so the color doesn't bother me. The servo and receiver are modern, because this will be a runner.

I put a clear decal over the "speed holes" on the inside of the chassis to keep dirt out. I found a large checkerboard decal leftover from my pylon racer and put that on the bottom. It won't last long, but looks cool (to me) and is better than nothing.

The Savox took up too much room on the chassis to mount the batteries longitudinally. Plus, the holes had been reamed to a ridiculous size. :? Not sure what happened there. The batteries both fit perfectly mounted horizontally. I used leftover lipo posts from a KF2 for the front mounts and one side of Bosscat saddle pack straps for the rear mounts. Large O-rings secure the battery. Schumacher loves o-rings, so it almost looks "normal".

I bought that motor because it seemed too good to be true. It is in great shape, is "period correct" for my buggy, was the only rebuildable brushed motor at the whole swap meet, and it was $5. I didn't know the wind. After a couple of figure 8s in the driveway to check the steering and listen for unwelcome noises from the transmission or elsewhere, I pulled the trigger. Instant backflip! The car actually ended up behind where it started. No forward movement at all. It just rotated around the back tires. Luckily, nothing was damaged. I went to the interweb and discovered that the "Diamond" is a 12 turn double! I was thinking a 19 would be about right, with a 17 on the extreme end but still acceptable.

I haven't worked out the paint scheme yet, but one of the colors is white so the white motor will stay. I will just have to be gentle with the throttle.

Body and wing are next.

The springs, even though they are the ones I had on it way back when, are obviously not going to work. Just bouncing the chassis on the workbench proved that. I will play around with oil and maybe pistons, but I think I will end up replacing them.

I am calling this one done. :D The paint turned out really well (by my standards) except for the yellow. That was a disaster. A couple of the decals are there to hide screw ups in the paint.

I like the scheme, as I think it accentuates the shape of the TC body, i.e. the loooooong nose followed by a busy rear section. I may try it again with different colors, or at least no yellow. :x

Stickers complete a body. I think that's an excellent paint scheme!
