Splurged on an MIP SL-1

So I just bought an MIP SL-1 for and RC10 project I started.

Based on all the manuals I've looked it, it appears to include all the parts. I gotta say this thing is a work of beauty. It's just...sexy inside.
It came with a GD-100 and a TC-100. All the teeth look brand new. It looks barely used.

Just looking at it compelled me to go online and purchase other parts to play around with.
I bought:
Factory Works Vintage A&L Power Clutch Slipper
SL-100 Low End Tork Control Slipper
SP-49 shafts/gears Drive and Idler shaft set

I'm guessing I probably can't use the SL-100 with the TC-100 together?
I'm thinking the SL-100 is meant to be used with the SP-49?
I'm pretty sure the Factory Works slipper functions the same as the SL-100? I didn't see it until after I already purchased the SL-100.

I'm not sure if my buggy will spend more time on or off road. That's why I went ahead and purchased an SL-100 even though the SL-1 came with a TC-100. Or can the 2 be used together?

I probably should've started this post with "I know absolutely nothing about the MIP SL-1"
I haven't built an rc car in over 20 years. Seeing all the old rc parts in my attic made me want to build something.

Ahh, I just realized you were the one that I sold the SP-1 to. :D Yes, it was extremely clean, and I am glad it went to a 10talker. The SL-100 was designed to work in conjunction with the TC-100 top shaft, but it also works on the SP-8 standard top shaft. The A&L powerclutch will fit too, so it's just an alternative to the MIP slipper. The SP-49 is a kit with SP-8 (standard top shaft) & SP-9 (idler), so you won't need them unless you decide not use the TC-100 tork top shaft. Feel free to show some pics of your build along the way.

Sometimes it's a small world!

I'm surprised it only has 2 bolt holes on the bottom. I was thinking about getting a cool looking jconcepts motor plate, but I'm thinking I should stick with the factory motor mount for the extra support. I'm planning to put a brushless on it. Probably a castle creations 1410 3800KV with a 3S battery. I think the trans came with an 81T spur. I'll probably use around a 15T pinion. I don't want the car to be so fast it'll explode the first time I lose control. Are castle creations good? All the employees at the hobby store were doing their best to talk me into one.

What do you use to the grease the diff?
And I'm guessing I should use some kind of oil inside the main case since it has a steel idler gear?
I 'm not sure if I feel comfortable running metal on metal without some kind of lubrication.

So I'm pretty sure the SL-100 is to prevent it from spinning its tires too much off road. What does the TC-100 do? What is it supposed to prevent?

SP-1 Plus instructions here: https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=650

Use a few drops of light oil on the outer gears and grease inside the planetary gear diff. Mip includes thick red grease, but you could use something else like synthetic axle grease I suppose.

The TC-100 was MIP's first attempt at a slipper for the SP-1, and since the surface area is small you only want it to slip a tiny bit (protects gears) at max torque when you punch the throttle. This why they developed the SL-100 so you can allow more slip if needed on a slippery track.

Castle make’s awesome products, if your going to attempt to run the kind of power that motor on 3s is capable of making make sure you pick up the castle link as well so as you can adjust all applicable parameters. Honestly you won’t just be powering it, you’ll be overpowering it. Your car, your choice.

Yeah I'm no expert with brushless stuff and lipos. BUT I'd keep it at a nice 2S voltage. Be a shame to roast all the nice MIP stuff on 3S.
