Re: graphite rc10 w/mip trailing arms
I really like this setup. It does look extremely fragile with only one bolt holding the rear suspension together. I probably wouldn't drive this if I had it. Fantastic work!! I can't wait to see the finished product..hurry and get more parts.

Re: graphite rc10 w/mip trailing arms
thanks for the kind words RichieRich.
I bought the trailing arms new back in the day and saw it sitting next to the graphite chassis, and thought, I could totally put another car together.
the setup has taken a good amount of abuse already, and surprisingly, it still looks in pretty good shape. except for the danmed dye. OK, I was a kid and thought a little color couldn't hurt.
I am going to need help with the rest of the resto, if any of you guys can help out, please don't hesitate to pm me.

I'm digg'n the countersunk washers and colored plastic parts. It's got that really tricked out racer look to it. I like it !
Old school racing all the way!

Re: graphite rc10 w/mip trailing arms
gracias carloco8,
The only colored parts are the mip trailing arms, they're fiberglass, I think I'll re-dye them to strengthen the red.
I wish I had left them clear. But, NOOOO, I had to go and dye them.
I'm planning on making this little guy a runner.
what contemporary rims can I use, to race in, don't want to kill the new three piece wheels with the worlds prolines.

Re: graphite rc10 w/mip trailing arms
I can attest that the bolt arm mounts break with fair regulairity and once it does, it's next to impossible to find a replacement. Of course the choice is yours but I wouldn't run them.

Re: graphite rc10 w/mip trailing arms
I don't think there are any graphite chassis wide enough where you can bolt the MIP suspension without using the fiberglass piece that cam with the kit. I wound up making my own chassis.vintagerctech wrote:I am looking for a new graphite chassis, any recomendations? can I buy it?
Good luck with the build...

Re: graphite rc10 w/mip trailing arms
The nuttier the better I originally intended to put the standard front suspension on the car, but I had some extra parts that I didn't know what ot do with. It made a really nice shelf queen.Dr. Robotnik wrote:Crazy build there highwayracer! MIP rear end and 91 suspension! Nutty mix of the old and new.

Re: graphite rc10 w/mip trailing arms
just curious--what is the modern--"hobbyist" method (no garage machine shop) to cut the slot in the chassis as shown in the directions here...?

Re: graphite rc10 w/mip trailing arms
I personally would use a Dremel type tool. Are you worried the file might mark the chassis?toybaron wrote:just curious--what is the modern--"hobbyist" method (no garage machine shop) to cut the slot in the chassis as shown in the directions here...?
