Tamiya TR-15T

In 1993 Tamiya got on the gas and jumped into the world of 1/10 2wd Nitro stadium trucks with the TR-15T. The first nitro powered vehicle in Tamiya’s history the TR-15T was also one of the first nitro stadium trucks on the market, taking its place behind the Traxxas Nitro Hawk, Kyosho Outlaw Rampage and Associated RC10GT. Just as those trucks the TR-15R was based on an existing electric platform, in this case the Dyna Blaster stadium truck, which was upgraded with a full length 2.5mm thick Duralumin chassis, 1.5mm black fiberglass upper deck and used glass reinforced molded nylon throughout. The four-wheel lower a-arm/adjustable camber link independent suspension employed molded bulkheads at both ends to hold black fiberglass shock towers sporting plastic bodied oil-filled coilover CVA shocks with clip in spring spacers at all four corners. The twin bellcrank style steering system with spherical ends, adjustable tie rods and direct mounted servo saver navigated apex's with a little extra roll resistance provided by a pair of anti-sway bars front and rear. The radio and electronics were mounted to the removable upper deck adjacent to the star of the show, Tamiya’s own FS-15 ABC recoil engine with ball bearing crank, twin needle helical barrel carb and dual chamber exhaust. Reigning in the motors power was a slipper clutch equipped pinion and spur primary drive that engaged the modern three gear transmission shod with bearings and flanked by steel universal driveshafts. Parting ways from the off-road pack the TR-15T wore as set of Stadium Racer tarmac tires grasping silver finished single piece tri-spoke plastic wheels. A white plastic roll bar backed the low slung clear lexan body and protected the exposed powerplant in the open truck bed.
