RC10B2 tranny, re-build / issues

Post by Ondapre »

Hey I would like to see if anyone has answers to my trans minor issue. I have built it a couple times, but it has sat for a while (5+ years) If I go slow with throttle I can prevent the "slip" sound. It is like a low tone screech. Both gears outside of the transmission have not been worn down.

Asking advice on whether to get another trans or to re-build with proper grease etc? Thanks!

Assuming the slipper is set properly, sounds like your diff is to loose, 5/64 driver on the left transmission drive cup, turn until completely tight, back off 1/8 turn (about 2 hours) and you should be good to go.

awesome I will do that thank you! I runs great no grinding, nothing. Just slips real bad when full throttle off the start. When running in grass it will do the do the slipping sound on and off randomly.

That is a slow slow slow turn!!!! 1/16 an hour; that is hard to break down into minutes, even less seconds!!
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

Ok so your saying I need to tighten it for 2 hours? ;) hehe Once the buggy has momentum no slip or squeal. If a turn slow down and run again I get the squeal.

So recommendations? I should re-build it, re-grease it etc. Is there a site or anyone have any info on re-building it properly :)

Hi, the most important thing is that the main differential balls have to be greased with the proper stealth diff lube.

Any other kind grease will produce your original symptom.

You definitely don't want to apply the wrong grease to your balls.

Yes, I figured I needed to basically re-build/grease inside the tranns.

When I slam the pedal to the metal it will sweal under I let off the trigger and slow the RPMs
