Bringing together a selection of cars, trucks, and trailers all on the same page Tamiya wasted no space, chocking full yet another printed testament to the wide variety of kits and components they offered to hobbyists, from gliders, road tractors, and nitro cars, to parts galore in this ad from 1996:
Mercedes-Benz 1850L: 1/14 Electric RC Big Truck Series released in 1996. Based on shortened aluminum King Hauler c-channel ladder frame with molded plastic crossmembers and chassis rail brackets. Drop beam axle with functional leaf springs and undampened spring loaded shocks up front. Adjustable tie rod and draglink steering system with spherical ends and a direct mounted servo saver. 540 sized motor and three-speed transmission from Tamiya's 1981 Hilux 4x4. A dogbone driveshaft led to the bevel geared rear drive axle located by a pair of leaf springs, and spring loaded undampened shocks Six piece chrome plated plastic wheels kept the 11.00x22.5 tires rolling. Rig was topped off by a hightly detailed molded tilt-forward Cab Over body covering the transverse mounted battery and electronics bay, all backed up by an enclosed van box with opening rear doors. Separate dash, seats, grille, side mirrors, bumpers roof fairing, rear fenders, mudflaps and more were included in the unassembled kit along with a Mabuchi RS540 motor and full set of bushings.
TA03F Pro: 1/10 4wd electric touring car released in 1996. Front motor version of Tamiya's third generation touring car. Black fiberglass double deck chassis and four-wheel independent suspension with fixed camber links over lower a-arms. Oil-filled plastic bodied coilover mini CVA II shocks with clip in spring spacers held in place by molded shock towers front and rear. Dual bellcrank steering with adjustable spherical tie rods and direct mount servo saver steering. Bevel gear differentials front and rear connected by a new single belt drive system. Plastic tipped dogbone axles led to 12mm hex drive single piece five spoke plastic wheels shot in Bridgestone Potenza rubber slicks at all four corners. A full set of bearings were included in the unassembled kit.
M02: 1/10 2wd electric on-road platform released in 1995. Molded ABS monocoque construction. Ultra short torsion spring loaded lower a-arm and fixed camber link independent suspension at all four corners supported by low mounted plastic bodied coilover friction Monoshock front and rear. Dual bellcrank steering mounted ahead of the front suspension with spherical ended adjustable tie rods, & direct mounted servo saver. Transverse battery placed ahead of the mid-mounted 540 motor. Bevel gear differential. Metal dogbone rear axles. Plastic wheels, rubber tires and clear lexan body with molded add-on trim varied by model. Unassembled kits included a Mabuchi RS-540 motor and full bushings. Available in 4 different body styles. Alpine A110 pictured.
TA02: 1/10 4wd on-road platform released in 1993. Evolution of the TA01 & produced in a standard, short wheelbase, wide track, and truck variations. Constructed of molded ABS plastic with shorter open tub chassis. Red gearcases held the four-wheel independent suspension system with longer front, and rear swept, lower a-arms under fixed camber links. Dual bellcrank steering system with spherical ended adjustable tie rods, direct mounted servo saver & shorter blue front hubs. Plastic bodied oil-filled coilover CVA's with clip-in spring spacers hung from red plastic towers. Mechanical speed control abandoned for electronics with the TA02. Side loading transverse battery & mid-mounted 540 motor. Shorter double eyelet propshaft connected the rear mounted ball differential transmission to a front mounted bevel gear differential. Plastic tipped dogbones up front & metal dogbones out back. Wheels, tires, clear lexan bodies, & lexan interiors varied by model. Available in nearly 30 different body styles, each unassembled kit included a Mabuchi RS540 motor, front and rear bumpers, and full bushings.
Flatbed Semi-Trailer: 1/14 trailer for the Electric RC Big Truck Series released in 1996. Aluminum chassis and lower plate with wood slat bed supported by leaf sprung tandem axles with radius arms and four spring loaded undampened shocks rolling on eight chrome plastic wheels with rubber tires. Spring loaded functional fifth wheel hitch and height adjustable landing gear. Fear bumper, tail lights, mud flaps, removeable side stakes, chains, and tire chocks also included in the unassembled kit.
