Re: What would be fair?
sold individually on ebay $500, sold as a lot, much less. Bought from a buddy who is happy to get the box out of his garage, $100, assuming you are going to use/trade the parts and not just flip them onto ebay yourself for a quick profit.

Re: What would be fair?
i'm sure you'll get all kinds of different replies with that question. i would say fair would be list price of all of the parts, or whatever amount he has into them. but, if they're useless to him, $150-200 bucks in his pocket would be better than a bunch of useless parts, right?
Re: What would be fair?
Nope, just keep them for personal builds unless some FRIENDS (ahem) need some parts as well.
Edit - these were given to him so has not put a dime into them.

Re: What would be fair?
100 to 200 would be more than fair. I bought 3 boxs full of old Losi parts a while ago from the local Hobby shop, for 50 bucks they were just glad to be rid of them.

Re: What would be fair?
I'd offer him a crisp 100 dollar bill for it and call it a day. If he doesn't know what it's worth, and would rather see it go than gather any more dust in the closet, I would think that would make him happy. mho

Re: What would be fair?
I personally think there are 2 things to consider.
1. The value of the parts
2. The relationship / frendship (which goes far in this or any hobby)
Since it sounds like these really mean nothing to hin, I would give him $100. Every little bit helps...especially around the holidays. I would also give him a case of beer after the deal. Over time, he won't remember the $100 (even if he finds out that the parts are worth more), but he'll surely remember the gesture.
Years ago, I had some work done on one of my cars. After I paid the bill, I brought in a case of this German stuff (not sure what it was...one of my buddies picked it up for me) and you should have seen the look on his face. Total surprise...like a kid opening a a gift during Christmas. He'd told me that when he was still in Gemany, he and his buddies use to get plastered on the stuff.
Prior to this, our relationship was purely business. The next time I brought my car in, I was amazed how much the labor rate dropped and how many things were done for free.

XX stuff:
Complete front end.

Misc parts.

Now my favorite parts - 2/T stuff.
T front bumper set.

Bulkhead.

Regular arms x2, 1 swept.

Front and rear T towers.

Toe kit/standard.

2x5-link arms.

Battery holddown.

H-Arm hubs x2.

x5 sttering arm replacements.

So, that is it. I needed a couple of these anyway, but some I could not locate. I have never seen a few in package either so that is a bonus. All in all I am pleased for what I paid. I am sure some of the stuff I don't need will make its way to another home.
From what he told me on the phone I was a little sad as most of the parts were different. Hell, who can complain when something like this is offered to you though.
I also need to add that I am thankful for the generosity and fact that the guy remembered to think of calling me. That means more than the parts - the fact that there are still a lot of cool people in this sad world.
