batterys?

iam gonna start racing on an indoor carpet track and running a cobalt 27t pro so ill prolly need atleast 2 batterys what would you guys recommended for long life and good run time

I would recommend going LiPo...

I have some Reedy 5000 pro packs, and also some Intellect IP3800 and find them to be very good.. Other guys I race with are using LiPo's by Orion (3800), SMC (4000), Trackpower and Chargery (5200) and they all seem to be quite equal for club racing.....

Just check with your club before you buy, as they may only allow you to use ROAR aproved packs...

before the v-nats in september, i picked up a couple of these promatch 4600 packs. you can get them in loose cells, and build them yourself, or they'll assemble them in any configuration you want. they don't have the runtime as their more expensive packs, but they have good voltage. they'll be plenty for you to run stock.

as far as the long life in the packs your looking for, that'll depend on how you treat them. if your gonna charge them over the recommended amps, not discharge (equalize) the cells down to 1.0 volt per cell before charging, not monitoring and keeping a charge in them while being stored, etc., no battery pack is gonna last very long before you start killing cells.

I dont want to start world war 3 here, BUT...

Lipo packs are coming down in price daily it seems. A good NiMh pack will cost easily as much as a Lipo now. Lipo specific chargers are way down in price, some of the higher end models can still run you, but you can get a good charger for cheap.

Dangerous is ONLY when the pack is abused, damaged and OVERCHARGED. Dont believe the hype of the pack blowing up in your car (unless you charge in your car). I run Orion packs and use an Orion Advantage Carbon edition charger. The combo works great, I have NO maintenance to do on the packs, they are hardcased and ROAR legal. I picked up the deal on eBay for under 150 bucks, charger, 2 lipos and a power supply. Since I already owned a great power supply and no lipo versions of the same charger, I flipped the power supply with one of the non lipo version chargers and make 100 back in 3 days. Keep your eyes peeled, you can find the deals if you look hard enough.

For the record, I've seen more NiMh failures (and explosions) than I like. I've never seen a lipo go up, other than the videos posted on YouTube of people intentionally blowing them up.
