without any trouble? and with the right tuning do you think i will get good speed and decient torqe, i dont race but i do like fast and a weelie here or there would be cool... would this setup have the power... if not i have like 120$ what would be a good alternative if there is anything better out there

That would probably be a nice combo, not sure about the wheelies though, but should be fast enough with the proper gearing to be fun.

yeah, iv been looking online the last couple days and i just want somthing fun fast and torqe (torqie?)

p.s. i had a slot machine motor in it initialy but my 8.4v 4000ma kinda blew that up, then i went through a whole ordiel putting the stock motor never been run before on it, having to solder on the capasitors to stop the radio inerference, then that blew up after half of the first run, so i thought the motors were just old from sitting

but is there a possability there is a short somwere, will the new motor and esc fix all that stuff? should i aim for a different motor and stuff, any help would be great, thanks!!!

If there is a short in the wiring, generally the truck will not move and the ESC will get hot. It is possibble for the motors to short internally, especially if they overheat. It may be a an old motor issue, but I would check other issues before just throwing money at the problem.
Have you gone through the truck to make sure the drivetrain and wheels are spinning freely with no binding?
What gear ratio are you using?

well, for my purposes the esc only had forward, and it has the torqe control and everything on it which is nice, but my buddie has a truck with rev. and i thought that would be even more fun. as far as gearing goes,

the bigger gear is Team Losi but it doesnt have a number so 86t (hand count so could be wrong) and the smal one is 22t (again hand count) and with the slot machine it was peppy, also when i had the old 7.2v 1500 the slot machine motor ran just fine for about 7 runs no prob, but when those batts blew up and i got the new batts thats when it got hot. and then i put in the stock motor which didnt have the capasiters on it (so im guessing it was never used) it blew on the second run with the new batts. that could have been becuase i didnt break it in ( if i had to im not sure)

so im stuck with at this point 2 new batteries and no working motor, and im really really new to this and i feel like i got into somthing over my head and budget, so as far as cleaning and tuning and working on the car, i need some serius help.

Its probably an 87T spur gear. What exactly does the motor do? I had a problem similar to that, for whatever reason the bushes would get stuck, I had to pull the wire and snap them back a few times. Gearing will make the motor run hot though. I do agree with aconsola though make sure the drive train is free and clean. Its overwhelming to be new at it and frustrated believe me, but stick it out. You can always take your motors to the hobby shop and have them check to see if they work. If you have another vehicle test them in that, test the esc that way too. Process of elemination.

i have a blackfoot that is in total ruins and i havent even got a chance to look at that one yet, i have been looking online about geering and found some youtube videos about how the earing worked. basicly it was stuff i knew but im still not sure how to properly gear everything. it was custon geared before and like i said it ran fine before the new batteries.
when the slot machine motor stopped working it was after a run, then i went to sleep and the next morning it didnt move and it looked like the cap with the connecters had melted off, the stock just slowed down like the battery was dying and then the motor started smoking like crazy... so maybe my gearing doesnt corrospond with the extra 1.5v that its used to (and also 3500mah)

also as far as cleaning goes i have a ton of tools and extra parts so is there a site walkthrough that anyone canpoint me to or a checklist somwere. i have a bunch of oils for everything like the shocks and i have no clue how to clean one or fill one up, and googe seems to like nitro cars although i read tht the gearing and shocks are really the same.
anyways im going to go down the tammies (rc shop) and pick the guys brain a little. but a chart or a guy that did the youtube videos said there was a program online that said if you have THIS type of motor and THIS type of wheels then use this pinion and this spurr ect....

For 20$ more I would look at this......You can de-tune the motor threw the software to tame some of the power. It also can run BRUSHED motors as well.

I'm thinking on some good batteries, you can flip the vehicle over pretty much on demand......you can't run a 3 cell 11.1v lipo with these, but I bet it would fly with a 2 cell as well.....

They have other winds coming soon....I'm, waiting for the 13.5T (hopefully for the same price) so I can race Super Stock Truck with it..

Download the manual from associated that will tell you how to take a part everthing and what oils to use.

update. i just checked in with the local rc shop and he said that the Novak Havoc Sport brushless 8.5 would be a good setup i should just lower my pinion down from a 22t to a 14-16t and keep 87t spur gear, so i think thats what im going with. thanks guys for helpin me out and stuff, all i have to do is order from towers and ill report back in a week
