lipos in xx and rc10?
lipos in xx and rc10?
Do hard case lipos fit in some of the older vehicles? I'm about to order batteries and want to make sure they fit

Re: lipos in xx and rc10?
For the XX, some fit, some don't. The Orion 3600, with rounded edges and fake cell bumps on the bottom, fits fine. Raced mine, first gen XX, most of last summer with it. Not positive, but I think the 3200, as well as the newer 2400, 3400, & 3800 models are similar.
But a TrakPower 4900, with more of a squared off block shape, won't fit. It won't sit down on the battery channel in the chassis. And its a little thicker, might not fit under the rear bulkhead even if it did lay flat. Rocks in a XXX though.

On the RC10, unbolt the battery tray and restick it with servo tape, all should be good then, but like Bongo said, depends on your lipo.
I run the Orion 3200 & 3600, i know they fit in my JRX cars with very minor work (I had a hacked battery strap that fit the bill perfectly).

I was looking at these:

Need to fit xx and xxt for sure though.

I can't seem to find dimensions for these puppies anywhere. But just going off the picture, fairly squared off corners, I'm guessing it won't fit the XX.toykilla wrote:I was looking at these:

Re: lipos in xx and rc10?
In My Pro se I just removed the battery holdown completely and used a Pure Teck strap see pic. in My LX-T I removed the battery stop under the bulkhead and used a foam block insted sold truck so no pic's. in My XX it fits fine stock.
I only have 1 lipo

Re: lipos in xx and rc10?
I ran my XX with both, Orion 3800 and Trakpower 4900 and they both fit, the only thing, I used the velcro battery strap, instead of the carbon battery bar/strap.
As for the RC10, I recommend the Orion 3200-3800, it fits perfect.

Re: lipos in xx and rc10?
Another bit of info, if you plan of running the lighter packs (Orion Lipos) I suggest lightening your suspension (lighter oil, lighter springs) and adding weight to the front of the XX.
When I switched over to my 3800 from my NIMH, I noticed a huge decrease in steering and rear traction. This was due to the weight difference.

You need to lengthen the stock mounting location for the cups though, right?

Re: lipos in xx and rc10?
Tecnica, does your TrakPower 4900 fit flat in your XX? I have 2 early XX buggy chassis, both with the velcro straps, I guess it can be strapped in and ran, but it doesn't really sit flat in either. What vintage XX do you have? Is it possible that later chassis were wider???

Re: lipos in xx and rc10?
I think mine had the CR chassis, it came with a carbon strap, I just took the strap off and used the velcro straps from an older XX, it stays put, and I raced it pretty hardcore.
The 3800 fits perfect in the XX chassis, using the carbon strap.
If you're going from NIMH to LIPO, the 4900 Trakpower pack is Ideal, you wont have to go crazy changing your springs/oil combo, and you wont have to go crazy adding weight to compensate for the weight difference. The 4900 lipo is not that much lighter than a 4600 NIMH pack.
Now, if you're using an ORION 3800 pack, then you have to lighten the suspension quite a bit and add weights, at least 2.5 - 3.0 oz to compensate for the weight difference. If you're running a brushed stock motor, the 30C 3800 lipo will make a huge difference in performance, but if you're running something faster, say 10.5 and under, I recommend the 25C 4900 trakpower.

Re: lipos in xx and rc10?
Does anyone know if this lipo will fit into an RC10/RC10T rear bulkhead cup:
http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-6500HC-74-Pack.htm
I know that I will either have to secure the front battery cup with servo tape, or modify it heavily with a dremel, but my question is will the back of the pack fit into the rear bulkhead cup?
Thanks,
David
