Scooters Motorworks lipo anyone?
Anyone used these? They have a 7.4v 3200 hardcase at Stormer for $59.99. I'm looking for one more less expensive Lipo. They have a couple of Maxamps 3000mah for $59.95 too. Or if anyone has any other suggestions I'm open to opinions.

I have heard mixed reviews, but more positive than negative, and a couple local racers are using the Yeah racing packs with pretty good sucess...If I can find a link, I will post it.

I don't want to admit what I spent on "matched" racing packs 10 years ago or so......

Re: Scooters Motorworks lipo anyone?
Thanks guys. I'm looking at those links now. I saw the yeah racing packs before at RCmart and was leery becuase you know what they say; you get what you pay for. I've done a little more research though and they get ok reviews. Same with the Scooters. I want one hard cased otherwise I'd get the Maxamps because I love the ones I have.

I'm really wondering if it's just 2-3 China manufactures, and just other companies testing and just assembling them.

Re: Scooters Motorworks lipo anyone?
I'm pretty sure it is. I know that I've read in a lot of different places that that's what happens. I think the only way to know is to just bite the bullet and buy one. If I get one I'll let you know what I think.

I was just wondering the same thing, how many factories can there actually be making the underlying cells? is there any way to tell cells apart aside from the label on the outside of the assembled pack?y2kgtp wrote:I'm really wondering if it's just 2-3 China manufactures, and just other companies testing and just assembling them.

Re: Scooters Motorworks lipo anyone?
Ive heard the Core lipo and Yeah Racing are the same, different stickers. I have a Core 3250 I picked up off RCTECH for $25 shipped NIP. Feels the same as my Orions honestly...other than I dont like the wires coming out of the pack, I prefer the bullet plugs.

You can get the Yeah Racing 3200 for about $45 shipped off ebay. Comes from Hong Kong so it will be slow comin', but still well worth the gamble.

Re: Scooters Motorworks lipo anyone?
I have had a good experience with Yeah Racing lipo but haven't had it long enuf to tell you how it holds up. I've also gotten a couple from Swanghobby for cheap:
http://www.swanghobby.com/home.php?cat=12
Also haven't had them long enuf to get any idea of how they will hold up in the long run.
Problem being that I have 5 different brands of lipos and have to have 3 different balancers to do them since not all balancers balance all batterys. With that in mind it didn't save me any money in the long run buying cheap batterys because at $40 a pop for the balancers evened it back out.

Re: Scooters Motorworks lipo anyone?
Just wanted to ad to the cheap lipo topic, I just got a 3600mah Yeah Racing pack and I'm impressed with it! It showed up today in the post with an artr team car that I just picked up off ebay so I thought "perfect test" I charged up the Yeah Racing pack on my super brain with my astro balancer and proceeded to check out the team car, check the brushes on the motor, put a couple drops of oil on the bushings (motor is an old stocker, not sure what make, I had one back in the day, it has the day glow pink can, pink plastic endbell, speedworks???) Then off to the street! I gotta say, this thing was quick out of the box, I have no idea what gearing is in the car, but it had loads of punch on the bottom and just kept pulling! I got pretty board after about 15 minutes of running (it's been raining and everything is too muddy off the street) but the pack was still pulling hard and I didn't want to run it down too far since I don't have a cutoff on this car.
So, +1 for the yeah racing stuff! For the record I bought it from ultraline, same place in the links above that JK posted. There are also a lot of good things said about these packs on DirtOval.com from some trusted and serious racers, which is what prompted me to buy it.

Re: Scooters Motorworks lipo anyone?
Just wanted to update the lipo talk a little bit, I've been running the Yeah Racing packs for a little while now and they are great! The 3200's are now ROAR approved, so that right there should make people stop and take notice. not to mention you can get two for 90 dollars. I've been running them in my 19T dirt oval cars (Latemodels) and have yet to have an issue, most of the guys I run against are running 5000+ SMC's which cost three times the price and I have yet to notice any difference.
