Meet 'Darth'

Post by FasterLouder »

I have unwittingly created the Darth Vader of '66 Mustangs!
I have yet to finish decaling it-I painted the blue body stripe decals gold in an effort to reproduce a Hertz GT-350 Rent-A-Racer.
Tamiya polycarbonate paint works great on the HPI body stripe decals,if you want to change the colour of them.
I wish I could have taken some shots outside, but it was raining...Oh well.
Sometimes a chassis, wheels and body just seem to all come together and work, fit and function PERFECTLY.
I am stoked that this is the case-Losi XXX-S,HPI Work XSA +6mm offset wheels,HPI '66 GT-350 Mustang body.
Lots of suspension travel left, lots of ride height to play around with and no rubbing anywhere.
Got the body mount holes lined up and reamed perfectly,too-I'm REAL happy about that!
I LOVE it.
I'll post more photos as it comes together.

He he he,Back In Black alright,Doc!
Ran outta gold paint for the stripes...A can of Tamiya PS paint costs $12 over here and we all know how small those cans are
I moved the rear arms back and it centered the wheels in the arches really well.
I'm well pleased with this body/wheel combo.
Too bad I was so geeked out on it,I forgot to paint the bumpers chrome and have wound up using the ultra crappy decals.
Aaaah well.

reat job on the paint and decals. I like it with the stripes instead of all black. Those wheels look great too. The picture you have above when you took it outside and its all black almost looks like a real car.
