Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion

Watch out for the screws that attach the rollbar to the body: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ssGU2HY-iIs/U9Bfd4ZVwuI/AAAAAAAADzM/TSJUfb_qZg4/s800/DSCF1220.JPG And no, I didn't overtighten it. The screw was only halfway threaded in when I heard a "snap" and the plastic split. The other ...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion

Well, this is a little disappointing... It's not as if I'm building it for the shelf, or anything, but still... https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-I3iAPNUYjP4/U8hgjl6d82I/AAAAAAAADyg/jn-YK6z7ZYE/s800/DSCF1219.JPG The other 3 are fine. I guess as long as there are no more "surprises," I'll ...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion

Just got home and found a big box from RPP waiting for me... naturally, I have already opened it. Man, those blister packs are almost too pretty to rip open! Almost.

Did anyone else notice the bit of Engrish on the box lid? First bullet point under where it says "Off-Road Racer"...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion

Wasn't gonna, but did; just placed an order with RPP Hobby. Already have a paint scheme in mind, and the tub will not be yellow...

Re: Let's give this contest a little test drive.....

My mongrel. No fewer than 4 different colors of nylon parts, blue nose tubes, de-ano'd nose plate, blue rear shocks, Duratrax front shocks, and Traxxas Cat (I think) rear tires. About as far away from "original" as you can get, but still more or less "stock." Runs great! https://...

Re: Turbo Optima Craigslist find- project: return to stock

The standard Optima body I got from Marwan is really good quality and fits well. Repro tires are nice, too. Highly recommended.

Re: Beach buggy project (on hiatus for now)

Well, after spending all afternoon on this stupid thing, I'm going to have to admit defeat. It's either hack off a bunch more of the cage, or make a bunch of custom parts, and I'd much rather make the custom parts, but I'm out of time for now. There's no way I can do what I want with this in the nex...

Re: run away rc cars

I've misplaced parts before, but never whole cars... Usually I find one of something I need that comes in pairs (or 3 of something I need 4 of) and can't find its mate. It SHOULD be in the same place as the other one, but it just isn't.

Re: Beach buggy project - it rolls!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a roller: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-TMhrBMwiYNw/U7X7YUvPZwI/AAAAAAAADwI/AC3A4C_0CgU/s800/DSCF1212.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QS_oAtarzH4/U7X7YjIfK_I/AAAAAAAADwM/Q7XJNzaui5I/s800/DSCF1213.JPG I had to remove a few bits of the cage, but I'll add back ...

Re: Now that is interesting... beach buggy project?

You know, I'm not sure if it's still available or not. I think it's out of production, but there might be some floating around. I got this one 3 or 4 years ago.

Re: Now that is interesting... beach buggy project?

Still playing around with layouts and configurations... regular old RC10 stuff almost works, but not quite...

Re: Now that is interesting... beach buggy project?

A little mockup to see how things will fit together... I cannibalized a 10T that I got recently for the suspension and gearbox for this project. Almost all the nylon parts are dyed Pepto-Bismol pink. But hey, what can you do? Wheels and tires definitely look the part: https://lh6.googleusercontent.c...

Re: Now that is interesting... beach buggy project?

Will do. I'm doing a parts inventory over the next couple days, and I'll probably end up putting up a wanted post. I know I'm short a few things.

Beach buggy project (on hiatus for now)

I've been going through my parts bins and trying to see what would make a good beach runner. I have an upcoming beach trip, and I want to set up a car around an old set of sand tires I have. I came across this old Pro-Line crawler cage I bought ages ago and never used, and set it down next to a hack...
