Re: Tamiya Farm King - Now that's different

What you need is a servo to control a sliding weight so that you can activate/deactivate wheelie mode. This old RC trike I got back in the 80's had a battery pack that you could slide either vertically up into the seat or down in a more horizontal position to enable wheelie mode or speed mode. It's ...

Tamiya King Cab refurb

This is my (almost complete) refurbished Tamiya King Cab.  I didn't take pictures during the process so only end shots. I started with 3 King Cab/Monster Racer chassis. The intent was to combine all 3 into the best King Cab I could make because I had the proper rims then assess what was left to buil...

Tamiya Nissan King Cab

The KC was my first hobby grade RC car and I've been recently trying to find one that wouldn't kill my wallet, I managed to score this one locally for a good price. Overall its looks pretty good, guy told me its been in storage for a couple decades, I'll be cleaning it up and getting a new body for ...

Re: Stadium Blitzer rebuild

Got the chassis assembled, again with all new hardware. 20210717_152239.jpg I had a new set of steering arms laying around, so I decided to use them as well. I also drilled a new hole in the battery post to allow the clip to be placed at 90°. 20210717_161402.jpg I got more parts on order, so that'll...

Re: Blitzer Beetle Help

Rider400 wrote: Thu Aug 12, 2021 3:28 pm Hows this thing holding up? Is it a better car than the monster beetle parts-wise?
Both have their quirks. I prefer the Blitzer family but both are capable with a few mods.

Re: Anything 80s on the horizon?

Blitzer Beetles are only temporarily out, shows due next month. They were in stock a couple weeks ago. I was looking at those today. I'm thinking about ordering the Beetle when they are back in stock to make a Stadium Blitzer. I can order a re-pop Stadium Blitzer body and decal set from our friends...

Re: Anything 80s on the horizon?

At first I thought you were wondering if there was anything out there like an 80's Horizon. I couldn't grasp why anyone would want an RC Plymouth Horizon!?!?

Re: my first tamiya blackfoot rebuild

That looks like an aftermarket lexan body. Original BF were hard plastic and the bumpers were chrome plastic that screwed on. Lights were attached to the roll bar that mounted on the bed.

Re: my first tamiya blackfoot rebuild

Super old thread, but this is step one in a Blackfoot build (which would be step one in ANY tamiya build):

Re: Do Crystals go bad?

They can be damaged and not function.

Considering that Tamiya mostly used 27mhz am stuff, they are easy to find. Everybody's 27mhz am stuff interchanges.

I have seen some fm stuff as well but they seem to be much less common.

Re: Do Crystals go bad?

Yes they can, if dropped they can break.

You can shake them and listen if you hear what sounds like broken glass inside. Not always can you hear a bad crystal so don't take it as a sure fire way to tell, but can sometimes help quickly diagnose a bad crystal.

Re: Tamiya Nissan King Cab

I just picked one up as well but the frame is kinda beat. The area where the rear body posts mount is cracking near the chassis so Im gonna fab up some support so I can get it built up. Did you find another body for yours? If so can ya tell me where you sourced it? Hey Rider400, while we're waiting...
