I just wanted to share my first attempt at ghosting flames in my racing custom color scheme... I hand xacto'd the stencil on a blank shipping label...and did the can and paper towel trick. Its 1/16 Scale... for my .09 Mini Inferno.

Looks pretty cool but some of the detail are hard to see. An outside pic in the sun would make that paint pop.
Is the kyosho tracker an ultima based truck? gear box wise? etc...

If you want more performance out of it then get the shock towers for the ultima. The are a lot stronger the tracker/outrage ones. You can almost bend the shock tower all the way over on the outrage/tracker. The outrage ultima chassis and upper plate...
I just stumbled across this tonight, it's got the Ultima, Optimas, Rocky and some other stuff. Part two has the Big Brute and the small scale cars on it too.

I'm working on restoring an Outlaw Rampage 2 truck. It still has a lot more work that needs to be done. The part I really need is the front body mounts. Does anyone have a picture of theirs so I can see what the mounts look like?
Heres a couple...

Rampage Still packed away just as in the pic, never get time to run much these days, unfortunately the decals and box never turned up for the Pro-x useless ebayers
Hey guys, I recently bought a box of parts for a kyosho outrage. In the box was a complete chassis minus 1 wheel and body. It shares most parts with the outrage, well most parts bolt on the outrage anyway. I believe it is an Ultima Outlaw. Now the...

Mr ed thanks. So basically I have a bunch of parts for several different vehicles. Alright now I have to find other parts to try and get this thing together.

Though, beat up, this has some great parts on it. Turnbuckles, belt conversion, gold chassis and motor guard. Who knows, maybe there's a ball diff in the tranny cases!! Post some pics when you get it.
My good buddy James offered me an Ultima Pro XL in appreciation for completely rebuilding a couple of his Schuey CATs for him. Unfortunately it wasn't selling when he put it up on ebay a few times and Im kinda glad it ended up with me after all. :D...
G'day guys,
Heres my optima that I just finished. Has a belt drive conversion, new shell (thanks Darryn) I didn't like the driver figure so I used a Tamiya Brat figure with a Tamiya Wild One driver head & Tamiya Pagero wheels.
I also had all the...

Nice build.......
IMO the Optima was one of Kyosho's greatest cars....
g'day guys
I have a problem with my recently restored Optima. I can't seem to get the wheels right, ie: since the axle & drive washer need to be dome up to a piont where they bind? on. I either don't do them up enough, or they are too tight & seem...
I bought this car off ebay not too long ago for cheap. Came in really good shape considering. Cleaned her up, replaced the rear shock tower, main chassis, rear chassis plate, front bumper, rear motor guard, and put a new set of wheels on her. Threw...

Nice one! I have one too and I think it got overlooked as a pretty decent racer. Pretty solid as the only things I ever busted were the spur gear and a front shock tower. I really wish I had replaced the front tower with the carbon fiber unit,...

I got this Javelin off of Craigslist this past week. I have to admit I do not know much about these buggies( Other then the fact that I have wanted one, but prices on ebay are pretty high). The chassis and drivetrain look just like the Optima...

Hi all - I'm new to this forum and just got back into R/C after a 15+ year hiatus with a Traxxas Slash.
I used to own a number of vehicles back in the day - my favorites were the Optima Mid, JR-X2, and YZ-10.
I recently purchased an Optima Mid off...

The Optima Mid came standard with a Le Mans 240 St. Around a 19t. The Turbo Mid came with no motor.
The 480 Gold is a 25t quad as mentioned.
As for pace the 240 St would eat the Gold but is not a good quality motor like the Gold.
Man I wish that I never sold these..I found some old photos that I scanned...that Lazer owed me plenty back then and I think I sold it for a few hundred with radio and spares...idiot...and then years later I buy and old beat up RC10 and the journey...

Well I would buy another Outlaw Ultima...maybe it's a sentimental thing but I loved that truck.
hello all, here's one of my latest projects, well 3 of them, the Optima would have to be my all time favorite, it would have to be one of the best looking vintage buggys. All of the alloy parts were polished by myself, I had one set green anodized...

Sounds good Daz, whats this other project your working on ?????????
Does anybody out there know where to source LWB belts for the Optima mid? I do not have BST status yet, and have even tried the original manufacturer MBL. 254XL014 are the markings on the belt. Any help would be great!!!

Yes I have been told that as well! Along with the Hyperdrive belts coming from the cash register industry! They are just timing belts after all.
I stopped in this little so called hobby shop last week and to my suprise I found a Pro-X new in the box. Its been sitting their for years. I dont know anything about it so fill me in please. I am not sure I am going to keep it? its dated 1993 on...

These seem like a fitting solution for the old skool cast steering knuckles on the optima and maxxum and mid. 5X10 mm bearings like the original.
Did anybody try this yet?
these are the hopped up versions (availablein different colours too)

I think I know which arms you are talking about roger: I have a set and had them on my optima mid and stinger projects. They did not stay on for long though: the front arms don't line up the steering knuckle with the diff outdrives.

I am a big fan of kyosho lazer and the problem of lazer it is bodies thus to resolve this probleme I have to decide of realized my own reproduction (lazer ZX ZXR and MAXXUM)
with PETG 0,75mm

That sucks. :( Just like polycarbonate, there are different grades of PETG. The cheaper ones may be junk, but I'm very happy with the grade I use. That said, I still wouldn't use PETG for anything other than a runner body that I'd expect to be...
Does anybody here know if the Sideways chassis is raw aluminum, or anodized the same as the Turbo Ultima?

Looks like that's the original chassis: doesn't have the countersunk screws.
I've seen a new set of wheels for this car in a LHS, left them on the hook as there were no fitting tires (that and I'm trying not to buy what I can not race)
I just joined this site after being sent here from DirtOval.com, and have a few questions about my Kyosho Slingshot.

Thanks for the info!
Highwayracer, if you could get me a part number from your Slingshot manual for both belts and/or compare your Lazer belts, it would be greatly appreciated. If you want to part with an extra Slingshot belt, just let me know....

it's a tamiya body; baja champ (not baja king) last time I checked the body was still available from tamiya usa, though the car itself is long out of sale

Anyone know what it is?
An Ultima Outrage,perhaps?
Do tell!

and to add to the general confusion: kyosho also did 4wd's based on the lazer alfa and before that based on the optima mid ( I have a magazine with one of those ferraris for sure)

bearrickster, I went ahead and tried acetone on the wheels and can confirm that Vintage HPI 5 spokes are acetone proof, if anyone else needs to know :-)

With the original tires the body looks huge, I would prefer 1/8th tires or maybe some tall2.0 crawler tires... but I had these tires already and no other purpose for them... so weighing up econmy against looks this sis the best outcome for now.
