I built my first Tamiya Blackfoot reissue and want to share hop-up tips for your build. These are simple, cost-effective improvement suggestions that can improve the performance of your Blackfoot, Monster Beetle, Mud Blaster family line of vehicles....

I've always liked the Hornet, but it has a lot of limitations. It needs more capability to back up the Anytime Baby! attitude. I've been looking for a good condition runner to experiment on, but then a nicely modified shelfer came my way at a...

In addition to having springs that are too soft, the tiny front shocks are horrible leakers. A front shock upgrade is needed. I have a spare set that are the right length and seem like a natural fit.

Is there a chrome type paint you can use?
Yes there are some chrome paint out there that looks good but you cannot touch it or clear coat. Once you do it gets tarnished. Great for shelf queen models tho
I picked up a SRB Ranger awhile back, and decided to pull it out and see what it would take to refresh. I just started into a puller project, but it is starting to sink in that that is a LONG TERM project, so still needs normal builds going on.

I didn't build this rere Lunchbox, but I've been enjoying it enough to want to make some improvements.

Lock the diff. On a Lunchbox or hopper, the pros outweigh the cons.
I think that you can download the plans online and print it yourself.
Hello all, long-time lurker here that got back into the hobby recently. Any GH2 Black Edition owners out there? Did you notice that the rear springs for the included CVAs are incredibly light? As in, lighter than the stock GH2 rear springs? So light...

The original one was my first kit in the 80's. I think the only way to fix the rear suspension is to swap out completely to the Super G shocks which was not really that much of an upgrade to be honest. That's why I never did it.
So I picked up a couple vintage super champ buggies recently and decided to use the best off of both for one nice rebuild. The one in these photos was definitely the better of the two and the one for the bassis of the build. I kept a couple things...

Looking forward to seeing your tear down and rebuild.
It's just mocked up, nothing is final...but this was the hardest part...rest will be downhill...gonna run the crap out of this thing! Goal is to make it look 100% stone stock
Instead of throwing away these wheels I took off one of my runners that was beat up pretty badly I decided to give them a second chance. I started by stripping the chrome, fixing the cracks with bond, sanded everything down smooth, then hit them...

Nice job on that looks nearly new.
I have much more enjoyment getting a terrible looking piece to look nice than opening a new in package part.
Thanks man I really appreciate that and I love bringing old forgotten cars and parts back to life!
Is there a difference between the metal uprights that come on the SRB chassis cars vs the ones on the Frog/BRAT besides the included steering ballstuds?
SRB part numbers 19808262/9808262
ORV part numbers 19808036/9808036
Thanks.

Same part as far as I know, other than the originals were less chunky and more elegant compared to the re re part .
My very first surface RC was the Tamiya Sand Scorcher, ordered from Tower Hobbies catalog around 1979 or 1980. It was built box stock and finished box art except that I replaced French Blue with Orange. Fitted to the...

Very cool! Need a Beetle family photo when you get them all finished.

Hello. New R/C guy here.
Totally late to the game. I always wanted a LUNCHBOX as a kid. Finally bought one. Sadly, I cannot get it to work. Anyone have insight on what to do to get it to work correctly?

The problem was that the brass gear on the motor was rubbing against the housing.
Fixed the problem and now the truck is FIRE!
If anyone knows me, I am a huge Tamiya King Cab and Tyco Bandit fanatic. I really love the yellow King Cab that was featured in the 1990 Radio Control Car Action Magazine, so this is just a little tribute truck I created with a Bandit. Im really...

That's not a proper charge lead though is it? One of the wires should be a resistance wire.
