Re: the modernized rpm ultramolded truck.. cva problem sol
Hand lathing, hell he was at plasma cutting, die grinding and then sleeving and braising before we figured the T4 CVA thing outGroup B wrote:so you want to run GT2 quick-change, huh?lowrydesign wrote:lowrydesign wrote:

ran into a bit of a problem with the rear drive system....
the goal is to use gt2 cva's with the posi lock quick change
here are the issues i ran into.
i wanted to use the rpm hubs originally but,
- rpm hubs put the drive pin 2mm too far into the outdrive, and they bind at full compression..
so i tried a set of t4 hubs but,
-t4 hubs put the drive pin right on the edge of the outdrive.
this was solved by using t4 cva bones.. go figure.. they are 3mm longer... THANK YOU Reggie aka "charlie dont surf" for brainstorming with me
There's something I'm not understanding...here's the guy (lowry) who invented the "hand lathe" technique, and he could have easily used said technique to "thin-out" the end of the cva bones for clearance...

the modernized ultramolded truck project **now 99.9% done!**
*update*
i finally got it all done..... well except for the parts ill change out later, ie; batt cover and maybe the white will get exchanged with black ones.. but other than that i took it to the local track today and put a few batteries though it. the truck ran well other than the track was quite loose and the tiers i have weren't really set up for the surface conditions that were present, plus it has a 6.5 in it, so power comes on fast to say the least. but i am very pleased with its first outing.
here are some pics of it after i got back from the track

What slipper plate are you using for your Rig, would it be possible to send the link to me,
got the same truck for my Son as Christmas Gift, yours is an inspiration,. love the idea of the Red/Black theme...
but still have to wait for the Tranny ..... some how it got misplaced from the package and now enroute to me as we speak. now still thinking of excuses to tell my son when he opens his present tonight definitely a heart breaker
I will be re-reading this thread coz will also do the Quick release tires... ......
thanks.

they're probably junk. the only place i can say i've seen them is at the bottom of the 50% off box at the local hobby shop.
