body ideas for vintage rc10 rc10t and rc10t2

Post by longboardnj »

i wanted to start this topic to give people ideas of what different bodies you can run on rc10 rc10t and rc10t2.(kinda like the help topics, how to run new axles on old rc10). i was looking for some old builds of rc10s with bodies for rustler ,b3, and car/truck bodies. another good idea is rc10t and rc10t2 setups with race truck (t3/t4) and regular truck (stampede/clodbuster) bodies . the key to this is to see if we can get pics with body on and body off . a good example of why to do this is the rc10t with t4 body, ive seen the rear mounts for this done 3 different ways. any help/pics would be great thanks

i don't have any pics but with the t3 body on a 10t all you need to do is move one of the rear body mounts to the center top bar of the shock tower. it only uses one center body mount in the back. t2 body fit's directly on the 10t IIRC.

thanks , perfect example of why i posted this .. you can get the thunder tiger b3/t3 body pre painted (im not a fan of painting) . i wanted to get 1 (or a few .b3 for rc10, t3 for t and t2) does the front t3 body holes lineup/fit the front of the 10t/t2 ? i dont mind some moding and 1 extra hole in the back but if the fronts dont line up ill just get a clear body and paint it.. oh and about the t2 body i dont think you can get that anymore..

hmmm looks like this may be a good idea?? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXALSS&P=Z .. best part
REQUIRES: Body Reamer (DTXR1157) for creating mounting holes
so looks like i dont have to worry about extra holes .. man i thought they were $25 last i looked ??

I use an oddball mount that my buddy had on the back of my 10T in the hole of the tranny brace where the buggy mount would have gone. I have a fresh proline chevy truck body I need to get painted up and mounted when I get the chance.

Let me get this right. So the T3 body does fit on the T2? Also, the thundertiger body fits on the T2? if so this really makes my day/month!

you just need to move a single rear body mount to the center of the rear shock tower and a t3 body will fit both the 10t and t2.

t3 is a single point rear mount.

I test fitted the T3 body and marked where to mount it up today.

cool thanks for pics.. please let me know if you are still running stock front body mounts im stock location after you mount the body. for some reason i thought you had to add spacers or run aftermarket mounts up front to mount t3 body.. i thought if you dont do this after you drill the holes in the front you cant get the pins in .. i could be mistaken

I drilled and mounted a second already painted and beat up T3 body I had tried on my t4 and the stock front mounts seem to work fine as long as they are turned on a 45 to line them up so that they miss the scoop. This is on a proline chevy truck body. The rear mount does end up at just slightly behind the flat where the t3 mount would usually be.
