Pics might help us here. Odd that the 8.4 runs faster in reverse than forward. Sounds like a setting would fix it or you just need to change something in your wiring. I would suggest trying to switch over to lipo and just forget about the Nimh batteries honestly.

I see a lot of RC10's with the battery holders facing sideways, rather than with the length of the car. I would like to have mine this way, however the 6 cell battery pack does not fit. How are other people getting their batteries to fit? I haven't...

Perhaps I can remove the cover caps and replace it with tape or something?
Yes. I believe thats what lV was getting at. If your cells are inline remove the endcaps and try it. There are a few threads somewhere in the rc10 section that goes over it...

I have a 5000mah duratrax nimh stick that has been having some problems. It didn't seem like it was holding a charge anymore, but went through a full charging cycle at 4.5 amps yesterday. Today when I ran it, it didn't seem to be putting...

Have used a set of calipers to measure the battery box within about half a mil

134.5mm x 47mm x 24mm

1) Has anyone found any lipo packs that fit?

Prefer hardpack/ROAR approved, but they all seem to be too big?

I now have available battery straps for my transverse shorty pack battery cups, printed in Nylon.
I'll make these available at Shapeways in the next day or two, but for now I have 3 available for immediate shipment. The price is $8 plus shipping....

I am finishing up my RC10CE driver project and realized none of my batteries fit. Anyone have a LIPO that fits this set up? I am thinking a soft case would do it but I'd rather stay hard case for Lipo if possible. Or at least a decent 6 cell NIMH,...

you can Drill, countersink, cut servo tabs and mount servo with forward mount only + servo tape - it takes 5mns, you just need a drill and a countersinking bit, it doesn't have to be super accurate, heck, even I with my 2 left hands did it properly...
