For now (and for the past years) It's just a body on an original worlds car with a nicely cut chassis by a top-notch guy from bitd. I wish all the trick stuff that this body refers to was there, but I never followed-up on that project, you can see the basis here:
but if you can find me the stickers, I might give it a go again

And back on topic, a few pics of the soon-to-be completed car.
For now I have some already bored out Losi XXX rims in the acetone bath, but these seem to fit perfectly - unfortunately I am experiencing the "NIB" syndrom and I'm struggling to tear the bag opened as these are long disc'ed and the only ones I can find in the US would set me back $35-ish per pair ($5 for the wheels, $30 for shipping )
The car looks like this now:
I have tried to tidy up the wires as they are all over the place, and there's the extra KO servo fet wire that doesn't really help either. Shrink wrap to the rescue!
Premium antenna mount - this is a cut servo mount from a late TLT-1... found it as scrap on the garage floor, the other half was used as a battery stop on my Xray T4 '17... a bit of body reaming, a drop of CA to make sure the antenna tube doesn't go away, and voila, (free) race material
Now I'm just waiting on AE bleeder caps and making up my mind about wheels/tires

A couple of months after - back from the Savoyarde Vintage Meet this weekend:
It ran ! And it ran pretty well
In the meantime the car got a B4 gear cover which requires a smaller spur for a 2.6:1 IR (which is important as you will see further)
The Marauder got a tune-up:
And off we go to the track!
Driving impressions: the car has good forward grip but by golly it pushes like hell! I also drove my Stealth CE, as well as my buddy's RC10 RPM Worlds (at least the suspension were RPM worlds!) Car, and the TRX-1 can't turn to save his life I mean, it does turn, but you need some trail braking, whereas the RC10's were turning "naturally".
Other than that it jumps well, and the forward bit is very good, which is the obvious flipside to the weak front end
I ran it on VERY dusty track, old-school, with zero grip, rooster tail and all, sooo much dust!
And frankly it was good fun:
until the motor melted due to the thing being geared crazy-high (remember the comment on the gear cover? )Actually, one brush came unsoldered and the spring even melted
Net: for running, brushless rulz. Brushed motors are for shelfers But it was so awesome to run that car after all these years
Later yall
Paul

I can't believe it's been 10 years already since I got involved in this... it's insane
The good news is, I still have it and I still love this car dearly. And I still run it once in a while, last time just a few days ago. Just wanted to share a couple of pics of the car, dirty like it should be
As you can see, I overgeared it slightly
As it wasn't the first time it happened, It was time for a change to a bigger spur... so I can actually use a smaller pinion that grabs it. I realized when trying to insert them in the new one that the slipper pucks were actually seriously flattened... So I had to ream out the spur holes a bit. This design really sucks, but given how rarely I run it, I won't invest in an STRC shaft and AE V2 slipper parts I think.
But anyway - the car lives on and keeps running. It's very interesting to see it run outdoors, on unpreparred terrain... it really seems to "float" above the ground.
I love the TRX-1

If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
A problem shared is a problem halved but an advantage shared is no advantage at all.
My sons are getting into rc racing so it has rekindled my love for the hobby. I bought a RC10B6.4 for o race but I decided to break out my original rc cars from when I was a kid. This TRX-1 was my very first rc car that I saved up for and bought as...

The more I look at the box art the more I think it fits the body perfectly.
Yeah, if you go with the proposed Talon name (in RCCA sneak peek bitd ), the color swoops do look talonesque and do fit the contours very well. I think the shading/color...
Sometimes you just don't want to update a vintage car to modern wheels but you still want to drive them. Is anyone here still running or even racing their old cars with older non 2.2 tires? What works and where can you still find them aside from the...

Well I figure it like this, if I have to pay an outrageous price either way, I'd rather have newly manufactured rubber. Although that is of course if you're not after 100% originality.
The other topic on how many cars you have in your collection made me wonder something else: What percentage of your car collection actually has fully functioning electronics & motors running? In other words, you could take them off your shelf, put...

0% right now. I did have one that ran a while back, I took the very worst of all my rc10 collection and built a runner buggy. It had a pink race prep motor- it was very fast. i had to run ridiculous camber to keep it from traction rolling end over...
since i won a sweet team durango dex410rv3 at the vonats i'm gonna start racing it.
i always stayed away from 1/10 4wd because the cars were expensive and fragile, well a free, tough, buggy has changed my mind.

Seeing as others have added opinions I'll chip in. I respect 4WD race cars a lot. They will always be the fastest machines out there.
But having been there and done that in 1/10 and 1/8, I do not wish to own a 4WD car right now. They have a few...
Hello all,
I have a 6 gear Rc10 with full bearings that came with an old black plastic end bell silver can. I gave the motor a water-dipping break in, although I'm not sure how much it helps an old motor. When I drove the car, the motor gave very...

If it's just a piece of debris burning, how can I clean it out? I already mentioned that I water dipped the motor, and I spray and lube it after every battery. Is there a more effective way?
I'm installing electronics in my RC10 today. I m using a Speedworks motor, Tekin 411 P2, Futaba 112 receiver and a Magnum Junior radio. I've installed everything and the motor runs backwards.
I've been lurking on this forum for a while, and wanted to finally post up. Info on this site got my stealth trans running like a Gazelle about to be ate. It was assembled backwards!
My brother had this car as a child, built from...
