Yokomo Copper Springs

Post by Corlin »

Looking for the YS-2R and YS-2F spring sets. Really just need the copper springs. For a Works 91 and Works 93.

I do have several sets of the springs in other finishes. Might try to get them copper plated.

Thanks

I saw the springs on Ebay. I would pay $100 for a full set but not for only the rears. I do not need any other non-copper springs at this point. This is just for a shelf car.

Thanks

So that bag of springs went for $170 and that was just for the rears. Crazy.

I decided to make my own copper springs. I electro plated some Yokomo silver springs. Took about $25 worth of stuff (muriatic acid, copper wire and a power supply at 5 volts) and a few YouTube videos. In about 3 hours I did 2 full sets and they look really good. Not super shiny but more of an aged copper look, which is perfect for a vintage rc car. They will be fine for a shelf queen. I put them on my 93 which came with silver springs. Looks way better with copper. I am debating about putting the other set on my 91. It came NIB and only with silver springs. I can provide more info on the copper plating if anyone is interested. It is really easy to do. Several other methods that do not use acid are supposed to work as well. Although the muriatic acid is available from any hardware store and for $10 you have a lifetime supply.
