Ungluing tires failure.

Post by rctenracer »

I use acetone (fumes)to unglue tires all the time and it works great. So I thaught I would try something new and use the oven method. Heat oven to 300 degrees Turn It Off and put the tires in and check every 5 minutes to see if the glue and tire will separate. Only I didn't turn the oven to off. I turned it to broil witch is next to off. The results are not pretty and the house smells like one giant burnout.

When the wife asked you why the house smells like rubber did you look at her and innocently say "I really have no idea"

Ohh that’s gonna leave a smell. Just used the oven bake method to rescue a set of proline Road Hawgs from some mis matched wheels. I baked them at 375 for 20 minutes

Stuff happens. Thanks for sharing. Kinda funny but still a bummer. We've all done something like this. Maybe not broiling tires/wheels, but something.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Ya think you're Bob Dylan ? This wheels on fire, NOT rolling down the road. Hard luck mate

I've also read about boiling the wheels in water.

Seems to be the safer method to me.

I just use CA debonder. Not really cheap and kinda tedious but it works.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.
