Used a new shim kit from custom works which allowed me to fine tune position on front axle so that the 5-40 lock nut could be secured with wheel able to spin freely if car tracks in a straight line. However, if steering is locked to one side and suspension is compressed/extended the ball cups inhibit the tire from freely rotating. Only thing I can think is to either have a custom front axle (extended ~3/16”) or to attempt grinding down the ball cups. These cups are already pretty low profile so concerned that grinding will weaken them or flat out rupture side wall.

But, does this ever actually happen on the track? I'd be tempted to run a few laps before making modifications. You might find that it's really not a problem.

Just my two cents...

When you have hairpins directly following jumps it can be. I’m going to try making an extender by tapping/dieing brass tubing.

Actually if i use a 3/16 x 5/16 bearing to sit in the interior shoulder of the wheel and skip using the exterior wheel bearing I can maintain stability and crank the 5-40 nut down with the use of an axle spacer. I think that solves the problem;-)

This is my “Reborn ‘91 bronze edition”. Reinforced the suspension arms with fiberglass (old board for PCB with copper on one side) to beef up for hopeful VONATS trip. My local track just changed the layout to include a monster jump which is about 7-8’ across but to clear it you can easily wind up traveling 12’+ in the air with the car landing on flat ground which is murderous on any car but especially those with printed parts.
