I'm embarrassed to post a pic of my work station.
It's just a disorganized pile of unfinished projects.

My workspace is perfect except for one giant problem - ergonomics. Short of replacing the actual bench with one that does not have the lower shelf so I can pull my seat closer, I'm stumped on what else I can do to improve my sitting position. I've noticed that most of the workbench setups I've come across seem to require terrible posture!

Not to change the topic of this already outdated thread, but I'd really like to see if anyone else with a bad back that wants to show off their more ergonomically-friendly workspace...

Why not extend the bench top outwards a bit so you gain two things, you can get closer to the work (or bring the work closer to you), and you have more bench space to put stuff, plus you can keep the under bench storage, it's a win win :D

That would be ideal, but it's a really cheap 1-piece bench & the not really something worth modifying. I think I have to either remove the bottom shelf or replace the entire thing. I'd be concerned about the reduced stability removing that bottom shelf would cause though, so I think there's my answer.

I haven't been able to get anywhere near my workshop in over 2 years. I miss it horribly. We just bought a new home with a lot more space, and are supposed to take possession Oct 21st, so hopefully I'll be able to post a new work area by Christmas...
It's the biggest thing I'm looking forward to about the entire deal; I've got dozens of projects to work on. :)
