Re: ** Build of the Year Contest - 2020 ** - Winner - Asso_man!
If you really believe in what you have built then vote for it , if not vote for someone else , I've done both , I don't mind being beaten by a better car and often agree with the result ! A lot of it comes down to taste not quality and if everybody shared the same taste it would be a dull world !
I look for originality , man hours and a big thing for me is if its ready to run not just a roller , its so much harder in my opinion to make a fully loaded car look tidy and special .

If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

I barely clinched a win from voting for myself once.
Usually I don’t stand a chance and vote for the othe car I like best. Even though I clearly know mine is the best

That's one thing I've been curious about how entrants vote, personally I've never voted for my own car, it seems a bit unsporting for me. I always vote for the car I'd like to own and generally prefer cars that are fully kitted out with electronics.

Its a tough call on your honesty for sure , for me I know I've not voted for four of my entry's , I've also been surprised by what won quite a few times , its all taste , personally I know little about Nitro cars or 1/12 pan cars so if I vote for one its because it just catches my eye not for any more technically infirmed reason and I guess very few of us have been involved with all of the classes that the build comp covers so we all must be doing roughly the same thing .

I prefer fully kitted running condition too, with apologies to anyone who's spent days painting body shells. Just a bit of fun though ain't it?winner_evo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 17, 2020 5:39 amThat's one thing I've been curious about how entrants vote, personally I've never voted for my own car, it seems a bit unsporting for me. I’d gladly post some of my complete ready to run rigs but those have clear bodies

Well my two votes are now currently in both first and conversely last places, so i guess i got it oh-so-right and oh-so-wrong all at the same time.

Hey just had an idea for the new Year. Make a 2021 calendar printed for the twelve 2020 winners. Cover would feature car of the year. Funds could go to this site.
I know Shutterfly is an option.
