Well soaking almost everything in nitro fuel except for the carb worked wonders. The piston and connecting rod freed up thankfully with plenty of back and forth play, the crankshaft slooowly started to turn and with work started to loosen up...I am not sure if it was the crankshaft, bearings or a combination of the 3 but I couldn’t get the crankshaft out and decided not to beat on it. As long as it is free and spins I think I should be happy.

The carb on the other hand is frozen and nothing seems to be working, I pulled it all apart but did fear that I might damage it and thought I would leave it for another day.

I might have skipped a whole bunch of steps and pictures but I got excited and spent way to much time today working on it.

There is still a lot to do, e-clips, zip ties and a new fuel line but all and all it is turning out way better than I ever expected.

What cracking job you’ve done and in so little time.
Have you got a body shell for it?

No body shell as of yet, I started taking a look around and wasn’t overly enthused with some of the repo bodies I have seen on the bay. I was reading through some other builds and someone mentioned checking out Marian RC? Heard anything or have any feedback?

He does a fantastic job, I’ve had a turbo Burns and an mp5 shell from him, both top notch.
Check out his website from the previous reply.

Marwan! Yes that is the place, was trying for the life of me to find it, just browsing his site now and will definitely be making a purchase in the near future (possibly after the holidays now with all funds directed to Xmas gifts). Also glad to hear other members are happy with the bodies, nothing worse than getting this far in a build and the body just seems off (although my painting skills are really lacking so we shall see, at least I can always just buy another body lol)

Just received an early holiday gift from Marwan and I have to say I am so happy I listened to you guys; best purchase I have made to date. The quality is way beyond my expectations, body has great lines and feels sturdy/thick and the decals I wouldn’t know the difference between them and an original set. Let’s hope I am better at trimming bodies than I was 20 years ago lol

Finally put zip ties on the exhaust and next step body trimming and masking before I head to paint (need to pick some up and might brave the LHS) but need to do some research on the colours first, all they have is Tamiya polycarbonate rattle can paint and I want to get the colour as close as possible.

Researching spray paint it is good to know not much has changed over the years, going to grab some Tamiya Polycarbonate spray paint and likely going to use their PS1 White and PS2 Red (unless their are suggestions out there? )

Just in case your stuck at home and need the different Tamiya paint codes, here is a useful link:

I finally got some time to myself this weekend and spent the day masking the Burns body and hitting it with some red.

Not quite done yet, the red is still a little see through so I might throw another coat on before shooting the white. Have a lot of paint bleeding through my bad masking job but will figure out how to clean it up after letting it all dry and I rip all the masking tape off tomorrow.

Well the paint bleed was worse than expected (serves me right for using cheap tape) but fairly happy with how it came out all things considered. Thought I would post a couple completed shots before I move on to another project. Wasn’t completely in love as the minor mistakes just seem soo noticeable to me so I have thrown her up for sale hopefully to a good home. Thanks for following along and now to start on the Turbo Inferno that has been sitting neglected right next to it

Looks really sharp. Great work on the rebuild. That will be a great shelfer for your collection.

You’ve done a nice job on the body shell, the box art colours is a tricky job.
I’ve just painted the same body in early Yuichi Kanai colours
