RC10 graphite query

Post by cas22 »

Hi all, new to AE but have found an RC10 graphite on a site here and cant make out the transmission.
Did these have the 6 gear or Stealth transmission?
Cheers

Looks like that one has a 6 gear, but is drilled for either. 99.9% of the members here know better than me though.

The 6 gear is ten billion times better than a stealth. Great car.

The giveaway that it is a six gear is the 4x 8-32 phillips head screws in the rear center of the chassis. The newer stealth screws use smaller black 4-40 to mount the transmission.

Having both types I prefer working on the stealth type transmissions. Both can run great but the six gear seems to require more skill to assemble well.

I assume that you're referring to the input shaft and diff.

Once you figure out the little tricks, they slide together.

Even though I have more Stealth equipped vehicles (9vs7), I get more enjoyment building six gears.

Actually, it is the "low profile, six gear transmission". It also has the "Varilok differential".

That is from the AE literature.

For a shelf queen, perhaps. Depending how crazy you want to go I beg to differ, but that is just my humble opinion.
