It's curious what you can find in parts collections ...

I know I have seen these aluminium track rods before but can't remember exactly.
Traxxas, Kyosho, Tamiya ...
I think for a truck.

So now that I have this in hand. Hard to tell if it’s custom, or factory with lots of marks from someone trying to clean it. Also, what vehicle does it go to? I figured it went to the Kyosho Outlaw Rampage. But until I dug the truck out of storage, I forgot about the gas tank being in the way. Now I’m stumped.

Nailed it, probably for the Pirate 10. I’ll still probably find a way to run it on the Kyosho though

Possibly pirate 10 but the cars I’m thinking I remember it from are the 4wd buggy size sedans with the 2 speed and blue chassis. Remarkably hard to find any pictures or info on them. We sold a lot of them back in the day, fun fast cars.

I thought pirate 10 as well, even searched under parent company Hobao, but as Jeff says pictures are incredibly hard to find. I spent some time trying to find parts lists as well but no avail with that header.

It doesn’t help that ofna didn’t actually name those vehicles like most of their other line. They just said “dtm Mercedes” and “dtm bmw” from memory. The parts appear very similar to the Duratrax maximum rigs that came out years later. They also had a 2wd Porsche that looked very Kyosho inspired

Edit- actually found the Porsche. Obviously not the correct one for the header since it sat the motor sideways but I was just excited I found it lol

Thanks guys!

I am thinking, as you guys are, that this is an Inter-Fab Viper EX-10, for really no other reason that the Inter-Fab Viper Pro-10 came with a similar one-piece aluminum rear pod and was engraved at the top. I can only find one other mention of a Viper EX-10 online, and that is showing it with a Hot Trick chassis also, so this thing has to be kinda rare. The rear pod suspension is much like the the Tamiya MK5 which I dig. I should be picking this up from a semi-local guy in a few days and am pumped about it! :D

If I was to hazard a guess, I would say that's the Tamiya Porsche 959 Practice Bumper... the one that's NOT in red in this image.
