I'm looking to replace my vintage Protec 706 for charging NiMH cells. Want to have an Amazon option so family can buy it easily. I found a bunch of this HTRC brand charger on Amazon and was wondering what people thought of them

I'm looking for AC/DC. Also wondering if Peak Charging is still a thing, or if there's a new scheme to look for for NiMH cells. I have a free HiTec that someone gave me but I don't seem to be able to set it to fully charge a 5000mAh pack.

It should fully charge a 5000mah pack as long as you let it peak charge over the built in 120 minute safety shutoff.
It charges my nimh fine, as well it can charge a golf cart battery to full.

Re: Amazon HTRC Chargers
This.
The safety shutoff can sometimes be a problem with high capacity packs. I have an older Hitec 335 that will shutoff if it doesn't peak within an hour.
You should be able to restart the charge cycle. Once the battery peaks, it should shutoff or switch to trickle charge.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.
