Got a Tower Hobbies transmitter. I now have Magnum Junior transmitters in three different formats.
They threw in a Chinese 72 mhz receiver that looks like new. I have nothing in 72 mhz, so whatever.

It's not pretty, but it fills a slot in my hit list. And now that I have it, that means another one cheaper and nicer should be popping up any moment. Maybe I should go wash my car too just to get the universe properly in motion.

At least you didn't buy it directly from Trinity, you'd never be able to run it again.Frankentruck wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 4:15 pm It's not pretty, but it fills a slot in my hit list. Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
This weekend I've been at the Dayton Hamvention, the big amateur radio fest, and found this HPI RS4 3 SS in the flea market. It is really clean and looks like it was only run a few times. The engine is stuck from not being run in 20 years, but hopefully I can free it up with a rebuild. Also has a HPI 4th gen Firebird body, transmitter, manuals, rolling toolbox and extra parts from a RS4 RTR belt drive & 15FE engine. I couldn't pass it up for a $100! I haven't had a nitro car in a long time, so this will be cool project.

Every time I look at that motor, it brings back such great memories.Frankentruck wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 4:15 pm It's not pretty, but it fills a slot in my hit list. BITD, our local track had a "540" class that was open to just about every 1/10 scale buggy except the RC10. RC10's were looked upon as being far superior to everything else so we were required to run them in separate classes (stock or modified). Anyway, I was searching for something to race in 540 - mostly because I needed more track time and racing only RC10 each week wasn't enough. So that spring, I bought and raced the new Kyosho Ultima with a Race Prep motor in 540. The series that summer was probably a dozen races alternating each week between oval and off-road. I never lost a single 540 race that summer - not because I was a great driver (I lost every RC10 race). I won because it was a great car/motor combination. More important than the wins, I made a lot of new friends at the track that summer.
Today, I have a single Race Prep motor and it's fitted to the Ultima re-re that sets on the shelf. Great memories!
