RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
I'm about to cleanup my RC10 after all these years. You don't hear much about the C stamp gold pan. Does anyone know any more about the C-stamp era?
I bought this from Wold's House of Hobby's in Dublin, CA, in late '96. Never painted or mounted the RC10 body/driver, might have the wing somewhere too.
C-Stamp
No stamp on bottom, only small bump back there where it was hit on the top side.
The aluminum mounts are for a custom body, painted by a friend in the late 90's, to match my real Bus.
This looks like one of the last gold pan kits made, I'd not heard of a C-stamp before looking back there. Was wondering what you guys thought.

Found what I was looking for. Love this site.
THE RC10 CHAMPIONSHIP CAR (STEALTH) 1992-96
https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?p=124342#p124342
This is indeed one of the last gold pan RC10's made, as it turns out. All black plastic, flat stubbies in the rear, and a Reedy Mr Outlaw.

The Late Black Stealth RC10CE
This was the very last production of the gold pan and was made even during the RC10B2 production run! The late CE has a C stamp chassis. It shared many upgraded parts from the Worlds Car and even the T2 and B2.
Worlds car parts included the rear arms, new short eared rear bulkhead, stronger black impregnated composite plastic front arms. New black plastic all around on the very late CE. T2/B2 shock collars, upper and lower spring retainers, updated RCPS style turnbuckles. This version could also be found with a mix of white and black parts and even the Viper body instead of the Protech II.
Some of the tires that could be found on the late Stealth CE. Associated step pins, Proline Four Rib and Proline Flat Stubbies. Again Associated was just using what they had in stock at the time.
Some of the stock motors that came with the late Stealth RC10CE. A Reedy 36 degree Mr Outlaw and a DS Spec. Associated was just using up old out dated stock or overstocked motors in the entry level kits.

Went through the box to see what else was still there.
These must be the original tires, I guess these are the Associated step pins?
Body and driver unpainted, wing is missing:
So this is why one end of my RC10 box is stained:
Extra parts and tools:

Very nice that you still have your original car.
Yes, #6823 Step pin rear tires would be the ones that came in your kit. I myself am a big fan of the late all black parts cars.

Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
Hey Cru ! Go balls out

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
Thanks for the reply! I'll get those step pins back on there asap.
I'll have to admit, that I remember being somewhat disappointed when I first opened this kit, the wheels not being the old jelly bean's with the knock off center hubs, and the shocks not matching the body, was a surprise. I had built the Tamiya Frog at 12 or 13, and remembered the much more expensive RC10 kit on the counter at the shop, would've been Eddinger's back then.
By the time I could afford the RC10 kit, it had changed between '92-'96. I realize now that everything that was changed by that time, was specifically meant to win races. I do appreciate it now for being function over form, and a rare bird.
Thanks again for the confirmation that those are the original tires.

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
If I'm going to put this RC10 on a shelf, and not drive it anymore, I'm wondering if I should leave the original speed controller in it. Or add this Novak Rooster to it, for some flash.
What would you guys do, in my situation?
Also, is this blue antennae straw, stock Associated?

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
Honestly, you don't find many RC10's with their original MSC so maybe you'll want to leave it installed. I only have one in my collection. Of course, if you decide to swap it for an ESC, you'll want to keep all the bits with the box and manuals. Take note that it's currently in the full on position if you plan to test the car.
I've never seen a colored antenna tube included with an RC10 - or any AE car from that era. They were always translucent natural nylon or polypropylene.

Thanks for the reply, @XLR8 ! I'm thinking exactly like you are, keeping it original. Great to know that blue straw was added later to match the bus body. I'll need to find an original looking replacement.XLR8 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 10:32 pm Honestly, you don't find many RC10's with their original MSC so maybe you'll want to leave it installed. But the late black CE Stealth version #6011, had an even more rare #6014 kit, that also included the reversible Rooster ESC.

If I leave the stock body clear and mount it that way, being able to see the entire topside and Rooster, would be shelf worthy. Torn on this one.
Thanks again!

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
Got the Associated step pins back on the rims, and pulled it apart to decide what to do next. Cleaned up a bit, but a long way to go still.
What's a good product for removing that old Rx tape on the pan? That stuff is on there good, I soaked it in 99% alcohol, and it didn't budge.
Does anyone know if the Novus plastic scratch remover kit would work on Lexan? I want to make the outside of the shell scratch free again.

Lighter fluid will release the servo tape.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
Yeah, lighter fluid/naphtha is good for removing & cleaning a lot of things besides old tape..and doesn’t attack plastics.
I think you should keep it original as well..

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
As luck would have it, I have a large bottle of Naptha that I used for guitar necks/fretboard inlay repair.
Also worked incredibly well on that tape:
Switch tape too:
Thanks guys!

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
The Rooster, technically is stock equipment for the late CE Stealth kit, and for that era in general. I was never racing, and reverse would've been helpful back then.
But so far: (2) votes for MSC
I'm still leaning to the ESC side, and clear body, hard choice.

Re: RC10 Gold Pan - C stamp?
I dislike MSC. They are better than nothing, but no one wanted to run one.
Frankensteined RC10T3 / Franky Jr RC10GT-e (x2) / A+ stamp / Toy Story RC / Graphite replica / B1.5 BFG 5LTi / Clonewald / Hyper Hornet
