Re: 60th Anniversary Joel Johnson Ultima?!?!
thanks for the update, I didnt expect to see them get more. I am on chat since they dont know how to use phones these days, and hopefully they will get my order filled with the coupon I had used when I placed the order. Going on 35 minutes in chat now. They found my order but cant figure out if they can charge my new card.
Edit, I was in chat. Just got an email that the chat failed asking to continue it over email. This is gonna be a long day
edit 2, no reply to email. Last email took over 2 weeks to get an answer, so its probably not gonna happen
edit 3, my Tower rant is over. I finally got a good person on the chat that explained they cannot change the payment method (which was the 4th time today I heard that) but offered a solution in giving me the points to reflect what I lost on using the $75 off coupon. So, tragedy averted and I have a kit on the way Its all a matter of getting the right person. She has been with tower since well before horizon.

I have one on the way as well. Still no luck finding the Yokomo though.

I haven't seen any of the yoks make it to the USA yet. My amain order should be a very early one and I believe I'm platinum tier so I'm hoping to have one of the earlier shipments.

Re: 60th Anniversary Joel Johnson Ultima?!?!
So I started building mine and it's been going great but I did come into a snag. Step 15 calls for M3x18 FHS but the only ones left in that bag are M3x15 FHS, which can't reach the nyloc nuts in the belcranks. Infact I can't fine any of that size in any bags. A minor thing but something to look for if you're about to build this kit. thankfully I have plenty spare hardware here in my workshop.
Small hardware issue aside This has been a pretty enjoyable build so far and the quality of everything feels supurb. I'll likely finish up the chassis build tomorrow. BTW funny thing of note. My Tower order was shipped from Horizon, which threw me off because I didn't realize they distributed Kyosho stuff.

Re: 60th Anniversary Joel Johnson Ultima?!?!
Funny, just watched a video of the 2023 Shizuoka Hobby Show and though "I should post the link"... then the JJ thread pops back up. Nothing to do with assembly but.. still serendipitous....
Turn on captions and auto translate... JJ's Ultima comes on at 6min but the who video walks through the lineage of re-releases with neat little details about each.
Enjoy!

Re: 60th Anniversary Joel Johnson Ultima?!?!
Well she's all built, as a runner. Using the turbo scorpion wheels for modern carpet tires, had to cut down the fronts a bit to fit narrow tires. Decided on going with a different rear wing for now but added some similar flair to it, with the end plates.

Yo that parks hard
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

Re: 60th Anniversary Joel Johnson Ultima?!?!
In other dumbassery, I have just learned that the transmission mounted rear wing is actually releasable meaning i didn't need to cut out the rear 'exhaust' section. Oh well, I'll probably do up a new body for it later I'm sure this one is going to get a little banged up from racing anyway.
@GoMachV What towers do you have that work with the JJ shock lengths? Those P.A.P. ones? Just looking for more adjustability
