Re: Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid Special ? Build
Cool thanks murphy3428, so the upper deck is the same design as the OTW-6, just graphite They are using what looks like a servo slot for the second upper deck post.
Thanks again murphy3428

Re: Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid Special (Conversion) Build :)
Well i made a little progress on the build, I think im correct with the additions i have made
Added:
Front Universals
Front and Rear Stabilizers
Front Ball Diff
Front and Rear Gold Shocks
What i think are correct Turnbuckles lol
Still to complete (Unless someone sees something im missing):
Front and Rear Day Glow Wheels (The wheels on it now are just for adjusting, I should have the Optima looking Yellow wheels in the next few days)
Repro Body and Decals (In route from Kuwait )
Repro Graphite Upper deck (I have material sourced just need to figure out a way to make it lol)
If anybody finds anything i may be over looking please let me know The only thing i dont think i will source is the original square knobby tires, unless they fall into my hands at a very good price i am going with some OT-66 front and rear, they may also be a little used until i get some at a good price.

The belt guards which you might have a chance on finding and the cap that holds the top belt guard down at the front which I think is specific to this kit and will be hard to find also the battery straps which you can make from the material you get. Jake might be your best bet for the machining of the top deck if he is not to busy

You are correct, I have the upper and lover belt covers, The one cover your talking about will be very hard to find so ill use a normal tinted cover for now, I am also planning to make the battery straps from the same material as the upper deck.
Thanks for the heads up

Re: Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid Special ? Build
I know the feeling, as a kid with no income, the only way for me to upgrade my car was to sell off my current kit, from my Grasshopper - optima - turbo optima - optima mid - optima mid cs - Jrx2 - Jrx Pro - RC10.Jirka wrote:Hey, has pics from that car been in "Allt om Hobby" a few decades ago? now im starting to build back my RC cars that i have, and i may say that i"m way behind.. hahahah.... but one of the stable 4wd i say would be the the Optima Mid CS. no major problems encountered , well maybe except the King pins keep falling off and the Top gear ( which was solved by thorp). Then Whan lazer came out, I so so wanted to buy one but i decided i concentrate in my studies and took a 22 years vacation ( hahaha).... with my son now and im enjoying very much, except for the fact that he let me eat his dust when we play ( with his DEX410) and my gold tub.
some day i will get my hands on this fav of mine..... god willing...
nice memories....

That's sweet, nice work. Some paint would top it off though.

Very nice.
I never knew there were so many versions of The MID.
I have the original Mid with a Brimod Chassis conversion that i did shortly after i got it.
As well as a Optima MID Custom.
But there were so many more versions.
You have a very nice MID and rare.
Well done.
