that would get my vote of the 2 choices. Flat like primer isn't right and agree with you that a high gloss black would throw it off completely. Glad you have your powdercoater quote fixed. The $20 estimate for a chassis is really good considering if you bought a good etching primer and then a high quality paint you'd be putting out probably $12-15 anyway and then the time of spraying and such to get it just right. Good luck and show us some pix of it when you get 'er done.

Yeah thats what I decided to go with, I met with the dude yesterday and went with what he calls a 60% gloss, looked at a sample of it and it seems to be perfect!

He should have it ready by the weekend

Can't beat it, Like you said by the time I bought a quality primer and paint, and fussed with doing it myself, The powder coat is well worth it.

I will hopefully post some pics this weekend.

Well guys the powder coating has been delayed a few days, It wasn't able to be done by the weekend, Just got off the phone with the guy and it will be done tomorrow (Wednesday) If I have time tomorrow afternoon I will pick it up.

Hey guys,

Got the chassis back the other day from the powder coater.

I didn't bother to fill (cover) the hole in the side for servo throw, And also theres a few "deeper" scratches near the rear area that are still visible.

I did sand the rough areas as much as I could without getting crazy, thought about feathering in some JB and such, but the guy doing the coating didn't recommend using the JB, he has had mixed outcome with it and the powder coating.

But either way I'm very happy with it for $20

Will hopefully start assembling this soon, Work will be starting up here real quick and my free time will be limited, but I will post as I can.

Yeah I kinda tried to stay not so "glossy" but the flat was......well too flat and the gloss choice...yeah u guessed it too glossy.

This is (supposedly) a 60% semi-gloss, yes more gloss then stock, I think the camera flash also plays apart but either way I think it looks pretty sweet.

Should look great with the white parts mounted up next to it.

The lowest picture is (I think) some Bolink pan car wheel hubs..... One side is the diff (right) and one side is just an adapter to hold the wheel to the axle - which if I recall was steel and did not have an indentation to hold the set screw/wheel in place.... I believe there was a song about that... 'you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel....' Originally sung by Darrel Waltrip???

Long time no talk, Yeah I'm still on the earth here.... I just have been so busy this season working 60-70 hrs a week and have not had anytime to even think about getting this 10T back together.

It maybe awhile before any progress is made, we might slow down in mid August but who knows?

But just thought I'd pop in and say hey.

Will post update when time allows.

Hey guys,

Finally a bit of a update. Hell its been 9 months since I got this thing back from the powder coating.

Guess I have just been to busy with other things.

Anyhow, did a little bit of assembly the other night. Got the front end and bell crank basically put together, still have to install the nose brace tubes, bumper. Tranny is assembled, and both are mounted to the chassis.

I'm waiting on a pair of rear stub axles, then will get the rear suspension together. I went with all new rpm ball cups, new tie rods/links. This will have pretty much all new hardware (screws/etc) when I'm done.

Still have to go through the shocks, and a few other things, but hey progress is progress right?

I picked up a vintage Futaba magnum sport rx/tx that I will be installing when the chassis is complete.

The hole in the chassis (for servo throw) seeing I didn't fill it before the powered coat. I took a small rubber grommet and put it in the hole. Looks alot cleaner that way IMO.

Well heres a few pic's of the small amount of progress. Will update as time allows.

Yes sir thats the Atlas foam, I had a hard time trying to find a mint felt gasket at the time, and snatched up one of these. I have since seen a few felts, but I like the foam either way.

This 10T wont be 100% original, but trying to keep it as "era correct" as possible.

Wow Dave that looks good. I'm about ready to attack my RC10T that I had since 1993 and convert it to brushless. Seeing your progress got me excited. Man I can not wait to start on mine.
