First time FAV/Wild One owner! (updated 6-3-12!)

Post by Doomed »

***Updates pics!!! (6-3-12)

I won a FAV/Wild One mix and am waiting for it to come! Always wanted to own one but the prices for these are always way out of my comfort zone. Maybe I was lucky or maybe its really not a good deal but I got it for a reasonable price. Its a FAV that looks like a Wild One. Needs the front shocks and shock risers to be more of a Wild One. What else am I missing here to make a full on Wild One?

Both front and rear wheels and tires are wrong.Your also missing the roof.I would strip the paint and turn it back to a FAV.

Yes from pics I see what you are saying. I guess I need to be clearer as to what I want. I was thinking like gearing differences or maybe small chassis changes? Thanks for the reply tho!

FAV was molded in tan plastic and had plastic shocks not metal ones like pictured. I would have to say that yours looks like a Wild One, however I could be wrong. The driver looks like he is the FAV driver, I think that the wild one had a lexan front hood possibly? If you scratch test the car and its tan plastic then it is a FAV. The correct wheels are the ones from a Rough Rider, you have Sand Scorcher fronts with the Ranger XLT rears.

I bought and sold my FAV during the Tamiya boom a couple years back, kinda wish I still had it.

It has alot of fav parts. Depending on what the front trailing arms are, you may need to switch them out if you want to install wild one front dampers. To me a FAV looks way cooler than the wild one.

Ohhh so the front trailing arms are different too, wow. I have also heard that the width of the front is different, hmmm. This is going to be expensive! Thanks for the info people.

Got the buggy today. Not such a good deal as the the box came open and crushed with very little packing. The cage was broken in two places and the drivers arm was broken off. :( Oh well I still like having one. Need to source a cage...

It's super common for the left arm to come off. So are you going with the FAV scheme or wild one?

bearrickster- thanks for the offer I am trying to find out a plan and will let you know(in the pic it doesn't look like the cross bars are there?).

shodog- yes it seems as the arm is very fragile. I am sure I can screw it back on maybe. I am not sure as which way to go with this as I first I wanted a runner. Then I got it and its just so cool I might have a change of heart and build it and shelf it. But one thing is for sure before I do anything I am going to run it a bit just to feel how these things goes!

They are very fun to run. It's tail heavy so it jumps and lands well. The arm is glued on not bolted. Make sure to use a strong glue such as plastic bond which melts the pieces together.

Wow these things are simple, all fits in small bucket! I am going to strip the paint soon and pick a color for the cage...

You should at least change the wheels to proper 2.2" ones eg W1, Fox, SuperHornet etc

Running the small Scorcher/Hornet fronts doesn't give enough clearance, nose will keep digging in.
