Old Tekin ESC Identification

Post by Ruffy »

I have had this 1st Tekin Speed Control for a very long time. It was given to me by a Team Tekin driver, and I can't remember why. Back then I always used the Novak 1 and 4 in my buggies so I never ended up using it. Years later I even cut the G-Plug from it to use on a servo of mine.

I have no idea about the age, model or what year this ESC would have been sold, as I just can't remember.

I was never a Tekin guy, and honestly just bought my 1st Tekin esc recently (The Tekin RS for Stock class racing) but if someone here knows about this ESC please let me know.
The only thing I know is that it has a very small red led after the "N" of the word "TEKIN" on it. It only came with 3 wires exiting the case.
Thanks!

It measures 1.45" L x 1.20" W x .56" Ht; it's very small!

It looks like it was rewired as it has 2 black wires instead of 1 black and 1 blue.
I am not sure if the early tekin speed controllers had model names.
There are 2 versions I have seen the "mosfet" you have pictured and a "mospower" which has a red case, no led, and the n/t pot positions are reversed.

I opened it up, and on the backside, where the solder is, there is an area on the board where they etched the letters "KO" and it has solder around the landing (the letters are basically written in the fiberglass where the solder can't attach to it).
Other than that there doesn't seem to be any other markings.

Awesome find! Notice on the schematic where it shows 4 wires, but then says "this wire absent from X model".
This one must be an X model as there is no place for another wire.
So it's a ESC600 Pro XT model I guess from the "index sheet"
1988 then! Wow!
Thank-you very much!

tekin esc's had many different model name's. i was thinking these mosfet model's were a little earlier then 88 as the tempfet was out buy then :) my pink one which has exactly the same manual as anthony's tekin link is a tempfet model.
